Re: 2009 National Golden Gloves Results/Reports
I does my boxing heart good to see the Boxing Jordan Family here in full force. To have a father /son team working in the corner for thier the third generation is truly a cool thing. Even better is that the Sr. Mr Jordan by looking about 15 years younger than he is and Dennis, looking a few years older than he is, would give the immpression that you had two brothers working the corner. Jordan?,,,,,,Oh , he looks his age.
Re: 2009 National Golden Gloves Results/Reports
It's good to see Rocky Mountain with two boxers in the semis, even if the two boxers I was personally following; Caferro and Thomas Williams, have both been eliminated.

Congrats to all of the finalists! Pennsylvania has a couple left glad to hear. Brynt jennings surprised me a lot. I fought him for our regionals. I beat him but still it was a tough fight. I decided to turn pro so they let him go to states. I just wanna say he shocked me making it to the finals with just 6 fights under his belt. YES 6! Well congrats to him again. And to everyone else!

Man, this tournament's coverage has been iffy. That and I'm still sour that Caferro and TW both went out earlier. Bah.

How was the fight Bryant Jennings vs Craig Lewis?
Re: 2009 National Golden Gloves Results/Reports
Two of these bouts could be replayed at the Region 5 tourney in Akron.ZMOMMI wrote:Zeddie Adams lost to Michael Finney 141
Leandre White lost to Eduardo Alicea 152
Yuandale Evans lost to Eric DeLeon 125
Re: 2009 National Golden Gloves Results/Reports
Zeddie shouldn't get too down on himself as Finney is a very good boxer. My younger son lost a close bout to him a few years ago and I saw his skills first hand. So it is not as if Zeddie lost to a bad boxer. You win some, you lose some.ZMOMMI wrote:Not sure about rest the of the 141 lbs. Zeddie said that he was disappointed in himself. Zeddie said the Michael clearly beat him.region 8 wrote:Zommi, how did the rest of the 141 lbs do. Also how close was the bout between zeddie adams vs.
michael finney.
Re: 2009 National Golden Gloves Results/Reports
This is not what I have heard from many people who were right there at ring side. They said the two boxers were moving and then Thompson slipped and the ring collapsed. Thompson did fall out of the ring onto the adjacent table and then onto the floor. He was not knocked out and he got up quickly. He jumped up with a smile and said he was OK. I have a few photos of the collapsed ring, but I don't know how to attach photos on this website. If anyone knows how, just PM me and I will post them ASAP. I have been real busy this week as I am the Michigan team coach and working with Jordan too. It is a little less hectic now as I only have one boxer left to worry about.chelsunya wrote:Yeah, The ring that collapsed was Serhiy Karpenko and Lenroy Thomas. Sehriy knocked Lenroy out and he fell out of the ring and was knocked out for about 20 seconds. Somehow the ref leaned on the ropes and the ring collapsed. The didnt count the knockout, let them break for 20 minutes and finish the rounds out in another ring! They are protesting it now, but this is BS.
Re: 2009 National Golden Gloves Results/Reports
Thanks a lot Hal. I'm sorry that Alex got beat. I thought it was going to be fun being in opposite corners. At least this way you can cheer for Jordan. I guess it is good to know that I look old enough to be his dad. Dang grey hair.squarering wrote:I does my boxing heart good to see the Boxing Jordan Family here in full force. I thought Craig was not boxing very well. He didn't throw much and covered up and blocked punches several times. However, I still thought Craig had won. Bryant is a decent guy and very good for such little experience. I talked to him and he is humble. I hope he and Cameron Thompson put on a good show tonight.Povetkin wrote:How was the fight Bryant Jennings vs Craig Lewis?

Re: 2009 National Golden Gloves Results/Reports
I hope someone will post the result of Errol Spence -vs- Javontae Starks tonight. That should be a good fight as the two have met before - Spence won that one, but Starks will have studied up on southpaws since then.
Re: 2009 National Golden Gloves Results/Reports
its just going to be a matter of time for Eddie Alicea to get his due! he's going to be a world champ!! I dont see anyone getting to him in the long run. he did a great job! we are proud of him

Dennis you can email me the pictures. I will post them up.
Also how is the round formats go. I know it is 3 3min rounds but what are they for the semi, quarter and prelims.
His name is Serkley Karpenko not Serhiy Karpenko.
If any one has footage for the Serkley Karpenko (where the ring fell apart) fight send email it to me.
