It's too early in the morning for that. I was thinking of something a little more prettier. Like your grand daughter. :D

Here's a few photos from our BBQ yesterday. It's the first time we have had all the kids together at one time, for one meal, in years.

Randy, I see you too had a BBQ yesterday, ours was real small, few people, don't know if James planned that way, but it was nice having some people over for eats and drinks.

Ours was small too. Just the family, Andrew's best friend Julian and Ed. I'm always up for a BBQ. Glad you had a great BBQ too!

Speaking about a kick in the head, this sauce will give you a kick in the head and in the behind.

I forgot to mention that Norm Cote was a 2006 California Boxing hall of Fame inductee.

Billy Eckstine was also like a surrogate brother to Sarah Vaughn. Eckstine started a band up briefly in the 40's. Sarah played piano. Some of the other cats. Dizzy and Bird. No recordings of these fellows. What a shame :(
Sarah Vaugn, The Coconut Grove and a favorite L.A. memory . . .

Rog . . . In 1972, I saw Sarah Vaughn at the Coconut Grove, where she opened for The Four Tops. Sammy Davis Jr. had come in to revive the Grove, and changed the name briefly to "The Now Grove". A few months earlier, my girlfriend and I had seen the Supremes (sans Dianna Ross) and the Temptations in the same place. Jeannie Terrell (sister of Ernie) was Ross's replacement. Of course, in recent years the entire Ambassador Hotel was torn down and the Coconut Grove along with it. What a waste of great L.A. history and Hollywood nostalgia.

Frank . . . I met Norm for the first time just a few months back at Don Fraser's GSBA birthday lunch. You were there and took pics of Norm and others that day. He was a nice man, and a IATSE union brother of mine. Rest his soul.

Rick....Norm was one of those nice guys that you meet not to often in a life time. I think he would have felt at home here on the thread had he logged on.
