Marvin Hagler was the hardest man of the recent era imo. He had a 15 year career, with 10-12 years at the top level and only ever took a count once, which was a disputed knockdown against Juan Roldan. He faced the most murderous punchers of the 70s and 80s like Cyclone Hart, Bennie Briscoe, Tommy Hearns and John Mugabi. Marvin proved himself to be indestructable, so he gets my vote.

All very credible, but some one who sings into the ring facing the two biggest punching heavyweights of the modern area, when widely considered past it, gets mine.

All other names mentioned above (though I can't verify for Joe Grim) were stopped or dropped at least once during their career, no one has come close to doing either to McCall (apart from second Lewis fight when he simply gave up) even in this 'fight' no defense at all in last round allowing free shots and he still didn't go down!

I'm not arguing with the above evidence but surely bursting into tears tarnishes the hard man image a little.
