Sexton Vs Rogan 15th May!! Poll too!

Post by terrez »

Really looking forward to this one, probably the best heavyweight match up domestically so far this year - The 2 Prizefighter Champs! Plus to solid prospects duke it out.
I'm traveling over to Ireland to see it!

I do think this is a bad fight for Rogan, I can see Sexton out boxing him here. Sexton has shown a good chin, taking a huge shot from Chris Burton in the final round of Prizefighter, to just shake it off in seconds and go straight in and get the stoppage win. Sexton has got some great boxing knowledge, alot gained from his amature pedigree and can control the ring, as hes shown so far in his career, he's young and real hungry for this. What an opportunity for him.

Good on Sexton for taking this fight, it's in Rogans home town and against him in top form, that takes some balls. It should be a 10000 attendance!

Rogan has been getting great results recently, all be it against British 'has beens' but I feel he has limited skills in comparison to Sexton who is young and will only get stronger.

My prediction is Sexton will box most of fight until Rogan starts blowing, then go and get a stoppage from flurries in the final few rounds. Sexton showed great fittness in the prizefighter, and as this is a huge opportunity I know he will be working harder then ever to ensure he has it all to play with on the night.

Sexton Stoppage late on... Or clear points win if not.

Rogan was very impressive against Skelton, he was superb that night and became the first person to put Skelton on his arse and stop him.

He's the champion and he will have the backing of the Belfast fans, who will show great support and if they give anything near as much support to Rogan as they do to their football team, it should be a huge help to him.

I wasnt very impressed with Sexton in the Prizefighter competition he won, he's a decent enough boxer but he's already lost which was against Derek Chisora and I think Rogan will be too good for him and he will get the stoppage victory.

Rogan inside the distance for me.

I think this is a step down in class after Skelton. Not really sure why Rogan hasn't pushed for a bigger fight.

This isn't for the vacant Euro belt is it ?

I think Rogan will be far to much for Sexton and in the later rounds Rogan will have worren him down and land some big punches late stoppage Rogan

This fight comes hot on the heels of Rogan's gruelling win over Skelton.

Will the Irishman have had sufficient time to recupperate prior to starting this training camp? At his advanced age that would be my only concern as regards this fight.

Sexton will storm into a lead only to get overhauled and dispirited as the Irish freight train refuses to submit.

For my money Rogan will take Sexton into deep waters and drown him. :box:

That seems most likely to me. Nice way of putting it, though quite gruesome.

Sexton's very decent though, and could give Rogan some trouble. If Sexton has the stamina and resistance he could win it.

I agree with that view Asterix, personally I think Rogan will get to him late - but I think I think Sexton is the better boxer and ALOT fresher than Skelton and Harrison - both in their late 30/early 40's.

As has been said above, I fancy Rogan by late stoppage. Very impressive against Skelton  . He has shown in his last fight he can take serious shots and keep coming. Should be a good fight and hopefully Rogan does the business!

Like I have said before, this could be tighter than most people think. I doubt Sexton will be able to survive with Rogan's workrate for 12 rounds, but I think he will outbox him early on and maybe take four of the first six rounds. But then Rogan's desire will take over.

Rogan KO9
