Froch joins Boxing Legends for Butterfly Ball

WBC World Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch will join legends from the world of boxing and icons of stage, screen and sport at the star studded Butterfly Ball which takes place at ‘Battersea Evolution’ in the heart of London's Battersea Park this Thursday night.

The annual Caudwell Children Charity Ball raises vital funds for sick and disabled children across the U.K. and this year music legend Rod Stewart CBE will headline the event with a live performance.

Caudwell Children is the very last resort for special children and their families across the U.K. who desperately need life enhancing treatments, therapies and specialist equipment, while also funding and organising group holidays for terminally ill youngsters. To date the charity has donated over £9 million to thousands of children.

Froch will be joined at the event by former Undisputed World Middleweight Champ, Marvellous Marvin Hagler and 1990’s Super Middleweight rivals Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn and Steve Collins.

“The Cobra” is fresh from back to back fight of the year candidates following his thrilling win over Jean Pascal last December to claim the WBC title and last months sensational come from behind victory to stop former Undisputed Middleweight Champ, Jermain Taylor with just 14 second to go in another heart stopping encounter.

Froch has been known to relieve the boredom of long hours in training camp with his guitar singing Johnny Cash covers but it will come as no surprise to Froch fans to hear that his favourite Rod Stewart album is “Never a Dull Moment”!

I think it's great that we get these little updates from inside the Froch camp. You call it MIckey Mouse PR, but advertising execs would probably call it "viral". Why all the snide stuff?

Say what you like about Taylor, and people do, but his fights do feature some insanely clean face-crumpling shots. Both Pavlik fights and this one.

I think basically that, due to him starting slow, Taylor racked up some seriously dominant rounds including the knockdown. But they decided that whenever Taylor then threw, Froch would just throw back straight away. After that he was more cautious about getting hit and hurt himself and started coasting. About this time he found his gears and rhythm and put it on him.

McCracken knew that Taylor was the bizz. Even going right back to when Taylor fought on the undercard of the Hopkins vs Eastman fight, he knew he had talent to burn - and that Froch would eat some shots during the first half and be beaten to the punch a lot but that he knew Carl's willpower and punch power would pull him through in the later rounds as they felt that once Taylor had tried to decapitate Carl for 3 or 4 rounds he would settle right down into a counter-puncher role.

His effort wasn't helped with him going into the ring bone dry. Showtime called them into the ring a lot earlier than expected and Froch only had 10 mins in a very small room, to get his wraps on, glove up and do 1 round on the pads before he was getting booed into the ring ! and i think it showed...

I will go to a pub i know, drink heavily, complain loudly about them only having right wing papers in there, tell the landlord where is going wrong, in business and his personal life, give maliciously incorrect information to some sex tourist's, then rattle off some words about Calzaghe ducking Frotch, or Junior Witter going on a bleedin' sponsored walk, or whatever.

errrrr..same for taylor too mate. this is a constant excuse used by fighters for sub par performances, and much as i sympathise, my thoughts are that all boxers know that the fight before them could last 12 seconds or 12 rounds, they are paid good money to be prepared, live TV waits for no man !!!

That is pretty awesome stuff there, KG. I actually think they should give you the job, two-week trial period, sift through the lawsuits, and then move from there.

I know this American woman who runs by far the most successful PR agency in SE Asia, she spends her days hanging round bars in Singapore looking for handsome young men to ply with booze and take back to one of her apartments. Anyway, when i've hung around with her she would just drink all day and every so often get a call from her assistant "1 sec" she would say and get her laptop out and tap away for 5 minutes "well that's another $5,000 made" and show me a 2 paragraph press release she had written about Ronan Keating potentially visiting Bangkok in September.
