he's certainly has back tracked from his post hatton comments,people like him & ray hatton dont understand damage imo.
ricky needs to ask the experts, ex-pro's.

Thought it was a good breakdown of what happened. Losing to the best fighter in the world is hardly a PR disaster, Frank Bruno often lost, or nearly lost, to the best man in the crackhouse, and people still loved the guy.

pr??he's had 46 fights spanning 10years he aint moving fwd but going bkwd's,that wasnt the best hatton in there,he never would of gone out like that he peaked along time back .

Lee Beard, the assistant trainer for Ricky Hatton, was very impressed with the performance of Manny Pacquiao. He, along with head trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr, had a plan in place to overtake Pacquiao on May 2 in Las Vegas. The Filipino fighter exploded in the first round, sending Hatton down twice, and followed up the second by knocking Ricky out cold.

Speaking exclusively with BS.com, Beard spoke about their plan of attack and what went wrong.

“hear brilliance is how I'd describe Manny's performance. We never overlooked anything in Manny, from his speed to his punching power and knew this was a very difficult fight for Ricky but we never expected that to happen,” Beard said to BS.

“Manny was awesome on fight night. Ok, Ricky did fight carelessly and not how he should have, but you cant take anything away from what Manny has done. His speed, timing, combination punching and footwork overall was excellent and I think he has improved massively over the last 12 months.”

Beard said Pacquiao was much more dominant in the ring than Floyd Mayweather Jr, who stopped Hatton in ten round sin 2007.

“We knew how fast he was and he was a puncher but Manny was so strong mentally and refused to let Ricky get the upper hand. Even when Ricky tried to force his size on Manny, he would stand his ground and trade then use his speed to keep one step in front of Ricky. Nobody has done that to Ricky. What Manny did, even Floyd Jr. in the first 5 to 6 rounds had nightmares with Ricky and Ricky was fighting in the same way against Manny but was unable to get to him as he did with Floyd. Manny was very dominant,” Beard said.
As far as the rumors of a rift inside the team, Beard says there is nothing to talk about.
“No, there's no problem with Ricky me or Floyd [Mayweather Sr] and we were hoping things went our way but you also have to accept defeat. You win/lose in anything, especially if you take big chances like Ricky and Manny have done. They have both lost and both fought at the highest level and took chances. They both have the largest followings in boxing that is why this fight was as big as it was. They are both exiting fighters to watch and exactly what boxing needs,” Beard said.
Beard then spoke to us about the possible fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr.
Do I think Manny could beat Floyd Jr? I didn’t think Manny would beat Ricky but he did. I would favor Floyd but Manny could win. Anything can happen in boxing and Manny is at the top of his game right now, physically and mentally,” Beard said.

Beard sounds utterly delusional and not a little simple in the head.

He talks as if there was some kind of brains trust between him and Mayweather Sr, which is at absolute odds with the rumours we've heard and everything we've seen reported. He talks as if they had some kind of wizard game plan and Pacquaio just knocked them out of it. Really? Either he's saying -- in a more subtle way than Floyd Joy said -- that Hatton didn't listen, or the plan was utter ass gravy.

I mean, even if there was a brains trust between Mayweather Sr and Beard, which I seriously doubt, it was clearly the boxing equivalent of the French WWII strategists that planned to rely on the Maginot Line to stop the Werhmacht, and interestingly the outcome of that conflict is all too resonant of the way the Hatton - Pacquiao fight went.

His breakdown of the fight is also absurd. Like, "Holy fcuking sh1t, Batman, I didn’t expect him to be that good," which is a pathetic way for a boxing trainer to respond and a damning indictment of his analytical and tactical abilities.

And Manny had mental toughness? Is Beard just writing this for laughs?? What kind of mental toughness do you need when you're bouncing a guy off the ground like he's a basketball?

PErhaps I was a teeeeny bit harsh.

Fair play to Beard, as a footballer might say.

I just think the combination of "we didn't underestimate Pacquaio" and then reciting not special tactics that they used, but just his basic attributes belies a fuzziness of thought at odds with the sharp, keenly observed insights of the games more august coaches.

yeah i think with rays comments it has made it look harsher mate more than anything.

when you have one trying to show a bit of class and give credit and the other one acting like a pubescent tennager who didnt get things his own way, tends to make the former look better I would say....
