Boxrec: the glory year

It's almost a year since the British forum of Boxrec hit the stands. European boxing expert Dutch Windmill registered the first post on Tuesday, August 29, 2003 with the earth shattering line: "I just wanted to be the first."
Since those early days, Boxrec has developed into the Gleason's Gym of British internet boxing: the place where hard-bitten fans hang out to observe and opinionate, along with those lucky enough to make a living out of the sport. Promoter John Shepherd owns the gym. Shrewd, non-dictatorial, smart, tough...John has managed the impossible by uniting boxing experts the world over to create the ultimate records site: champion to four-round fighter, alive or dead.
It's a mind-boggling achievement.
The forum has also astonished at times. We 'broke' the unfortunate story of Joe Mesi's brain injuries several days before Thomas Hauser claimed his exclusive in the States (not bad for a British forum).
We brought to national attention the crack cocaine plight of Nicky Booth after the story remained hidden within Nottingham walls.
We scooped Sky-TV, the tabloids, the BBC (easy), the boxing magazines, the big name journalists, the promoters even.
We believed Danny Williams had a chance with "Iron" Mike Tyson if he got past the early stages.
We know more.

Yep, this place has become invaluable to me. It's great to keep abreast of what are the main topics currently. I used to trawl all the fight page links instead, but there's no need now, because there is always someone here who will have trawled something I have missed.]

It would seem that a big pat on the back for everyone is in order. Thanks to everyone for making this place as good as it is. I'd also like to pay tribute to the many names who've fallen by the wayside during my time here, characters like xtremebox, $eif, and Don_Kauffman. Gone but not forgotten.

the producers of the littlest hobo must have had hearts of stone.
that program used to have me in tears, they`d be rolling down my face watching the little fella sort everyones problems out with a bit of K9 bravery only to ride off into the sunset shane style (well, doggie style). and then the ending theme would come on accompanied by me pointing aimlessly at the screen and hysterically wailing "why does`nt he stay....boo hoo....why doesnt he stay?"

Before it arrived i was living a lie, feigning knowledge and sitting pretty as Boxrec's second highest poster (behind Tomato Can) and someone decided to bring together the cream of the crop and sabotage my attempts at forum domination
