One Month to Go - Thompson v Haye - Who's going?

Post by knockout artist »

I am.

This is likely to be short, but sweet.

I'm really looking forward to it.

Should be very interesting indeed. This is a battle of chins in my opinion. Both men can undoubtedly bang and the one with the better chin is the one who will prevail.

The Fight Academy promoted card at the Wembley Arena in London headlined by the explosive IBO cruiserweight title clash between champion Carl Thompson and undefeated Londoner David Haye, is already taking shape.

There is still little over seven weeks to go until what could be the domestic scrap of the year but SecondsOut has learned The Thompson vs Haye clash will be backed up by two Southern Area title fights plus heavyweight prospect Roman Greenberg, former undefeated British super-middleweight champion Matthew Barney and Chesterfield heavyweight Mark Krence.

The two area title fights feature West Ham's Garry Delaney defending his Southern Area cruiserweight title against Epsom tough guy Tommy Eastwood and a cracking confrontation between champion Peter McDonagh from Bermondsey and Bethnal Green based Scot Dave Stewart.

Two heavyweight bouts see London based Israeli Roman Greenberg and Central Area heavyweight champion Mark Krence feature in separate bouts.

Other fighters on the card include current WBU light-heavyweight champion Matthew Barney, Slough's Jamie Hearn and Basingstoke southpaw Jon Honney.

Talking of the main event Fight Academy promoter Dennis Hobson said: "This really is the domestic clash of the year. Both Carl and David can end a fight with a single punch. Carl proved that when he knocked out Rothmann to win the IBO title. This is a fantastic fight and we're delighted it is going out on BBC1."

Haye's manager Adam Booth added, "We're delighted that the fight is going ahead. David is ready to take on someone of Carl's calibre and we're confident he can prove himself as a world champion.'

We could all meet at a local Wembley pub before hand ( anyone know a good one? ) or early on in the arena bar ( if there's still one there )

Otherwise there's that pub opposite Baker street tube, where alot of people change to get the train to Wembley - I think it's called The Globe?

Or any other suggestions...

Sounds a good plan :TU: Better make it a little later though, cause we don't want to have to carry you feet first into Wembley :D

Dave have you got the number for fight academy to hand, haven't got my boxing yearbook to hand. I've got robert waterman's number, but I seem to remember that he just directed me to Fight Academy last time out.

Probably a bit too early to apply just yet, but I guess I may as well apply early, everyone and his uncle will want to be at this one.

i might go actually, if i'm free. i live north of manchester but it seems worth it. never actually been to a live show.

don't like the 'IBO championship of the World!' part of the tagline.

i would 10 X much rather travel to see this fight in london than travel 8 miles to manchester to see ricky hattons latest farce.

I'm going. I'll be in The Globe, Baker Street, in full BritishBoxing.net regalia, at about 5.15! Bring it on!

Poor Kev is going to York Hall! :D Mind you, wouldn't mind seeing that dust up as well.
