Scott Belshaw set to face Tyson Fury on Saturday

Met him in Dublin, he was massive. really nice lad though, quite look forward to this contest too. COmpetastive fight between two hungry young fighters.

"The deal has just been signed this minute"... The fight is this weekend, isnt it? Has Belshaw had enough notice??

I certainly hope so. From the outside it appears the contest is being manipulated by Hennessey in favour of Fury (and thats even before the respective strengths of the fighters are considered). Hennessey Sports have had Belshaw in mind as a possible Fury opponent for a while and so why, with 6 days to fight night has Belshaw now only been offered proper money to fight Fury?

If it is the case that Belshaw hasnt had full and proper notice for the fight (as appears to be the case), then a win for Fury will certainly lack full credibility regardless of what Meaty Mick says afterwards.

Im not saying that it is the case, but I dislike it when fighters are given "shots" at bigger name prospect but only on short notice, thereby putting the "challenger" at a distinct advantage (in terms of proper preparation, physically/technically and mentally). There is little point staging the contest if both men arent given the adequate opportunity to get themselves fully prepared.

The fact that Belshaw was supposed to fight last Saturday night against someone other than Fury (IMO) does not prepare him for a fight with Fury this weekend, especially given the magnitude of the fight for Belshaw.

I agree and this always seems to happen with Fury's opponents so far. Its taking advantage of the fact that most the fighters cant afford to turn down the money/ITV exposure.

So let me get this right, if Belshaw was in training but did not expect to fight Fury then his training does not qualify for sufficient preparation? Well then the same has to apply to Fury himself - Fury is also taking this fight at the last minute. Fury is the novice here who is fighting regularly - good on him.

Not necessarily!! It depends on who Fury has been training for! The fact that the fight was only signed/finalised on Sunday doesnt mean that Fury hasnt been preparing for the fight with Belshaw.

Hennessey and Team Fury have had Belshaw in mind for sometime as a possible Fury opponent.

Remember, the offer of the fight was made by Hennessey and Team Fury to Belshaw. Thereby Fury already had knowledge that the fight was a realistic possibility before Belshaw was even approached (especially if Team Fury was told by Hennessey that a very good financial offer would be made to Belshaw). Belshaw simply wouldnt have been offered the fight if it hadnt been discussed and considered in advance by Hennessey and Team Fury.
