how would hatton have stopped such an event?
By speaking to the affected parties first. It's common courtesy/deceny. Especially to someone you've known almost half your life.
not so easy is it, there would have been numerous people in and around the gym that would have known that the trainer wasnt there, people who worked at kayes gym, regulars who trained at the gym, numerous journalists, hangers on etc

why would hatton want to hide the fact that his trainer saw fit to take a 2 week break in the middle of the most important training camp of his fighters life.

graham makes out he loved hatton like a son, maybe once but that doesnt strike true to me

I dunno where this 12 week break is from, but that's not true.

The rumour broke a fair time before Graham knew. In fact, the first person to tell him was a mate via text when he stepped off the plane. And it wasn't from a member of Team Hatton. Nice arrival present:

"Hi Ricky, I got you 200 Superkings"

"You're fired Bill"

"Is this because I didn't get you B&H?"

There's no excuse for that. None at all. I also watched someone in Team Hatton make digs at Graham months before the firing happened in Bournemouth. It was an evening with... Should be pretty obvious who that is.

Anyway, I'm out of this thread. Hopefully the truth will come out of all this during the proceedings and people on this forum can make an accurate judgement based upon what really happened (can't hold the pads, lol).

Peace.

Brendan nurtured Naz from the age of 11, took him all over the place and lost money.
Then when the big fights came along, Brendan's time, devotion, skill, begins to reap rewards with the Trainer percentage.
Enter Raith and other members of the family, and the money is kept in house - totally in breach of Contract and with complete disdain for the man who got him there.
Now, change the name Naz for Hatton and Brendan for Billy and what do you get ?
I hope Billy gets his dues I really do.
I also hope he doesn't let it eat away to the extent I know it did with Brendan.
What is wrong with these people ?
Hatton isn't exactly gonna spend all his dosh is he with the lifestyle he's decided upon.
He wont be buying a multi million pad in Kensington, wont be driving a Bentley, and wont be quaffing champagne.
He'll be living round the corner from mum, driving his X5, and downing guinness - and good luck to the kid.
A million in due fees to a man who deserves it is f""k all in the scheme of things.
Likewise with Naz.
Paying Brendan would not have put him on Jobseekers Allowance.
Common denominator ?
Leaches on the perifory taking taking taking.
Finally, 26 talks with some knowledge and sense. Perhaps the same will go for his mate Ryan Rhodes who is a bigger knocker than Jordan.

Ricky made Billy and he made Billy a millionaire.

Every boxer that Billy trained left him in the end,Carl Thompson,Ensley Bingham,Anthony Farnell,Michael Gomez,Matthew Hatton,Matthew Macklin. They all left Billy

I am suprised Ricky was the last to leave him. Perhaps Ricky was too loyal.

Billy was overpaid at 10% of the purse. Any purse over £100,000 and the fighter can negotiate with the trainer. Where does Billy get off thinking he should get 10% of every penny Ricky earns.

I have met Billy Graham and found him to be rude and arrogant and not the nice guy some people think of.

I bet it will make interesting reading if it goes to court. I can't see it though. If Billy has any sense he will settle out of court, take the money and run. I am sure he has a lot of skeletons in his wardrobe.
Pablo - I am willing to bet who you are or the circle of people you come from!!!

You are coming on here making out you are a mere sweet and innocent who is merely here to give your point of view - absolute sh*t.

You mention someone like Billy Graham is rude and arrogant - yeah sometimes he is - but at least you know where you stand with him if he doesn't like you he lets you know and then he allows you to go about your business!!! - can you say the same thing about all of the members of Team Hatton? - come on Pablo you seem to know your stuff - are all members of Team Hatton excellent people? - or is it simply you maybe a member of Team Hatton or an associate?

You mention things will get interesting if things go to court - you are f*cking dam right it will be - and I am willing to bet there will be some revelations which will make peoples hair curl!! - I am hearing that there are plenty of people willing to speak up for Billy Graham - I do not mean "Joe Public" either - I mean witnesses that will count.

You are yet another poster who has come onto this forum to make your accusations and do not have the bottle to do it under your own name - go on tell the forum who you are?? - on another thread you try to discredit me in a veiled attempt to get the forum to slag me off to deflect the sh*t off the real subject of that particular thread - nice try - didn't work did it?

You now come onto this thread - discredit the achievements of Billy Graham - I have no problems in stating I had difficulty in coping with his forthright manner - but to discredit his achievements as a boxing trainer is b*llocks and whats more you know it is but again its another attempt to put up a smokescreen!!!

I have read your comments on the other thread which has been closed - you are a weak and pathetic individual - I have raised thousands for Army charities and am extremely proud of that - if you wish to discredit that then fine - you then go onto champion and applaud a convicted rapist - yet you did not have the b*llocks to join that queue to have a pop at me yourself?? - you then go onto mention that I have slagged Ricky Hatton off certainly not recently - I have to say when Ricky Hatton was with F rank W arren I used to thoroughly enjoy myself winding people up in the Hatton/Witter debates - but certainly since I got to know Ricky personally and in addition taking into consideration his achievements and what he has done in my opinion for British Boxing there is absolutely no need for me to slag off Ricky Hatton - as I have mentioned on numerous occasions I cannot however say the samething about a certain member of Team Hatton - it is that person who I have a strong suspicion you have a close association with. :TU:

:

what will these special people stand up and say spuddy? will they say that billy graham spent more time in his office smoking fags and talking to lizards than he did training ricky ?

will they say that billy isnt the father figure to ricky that some would have you believe?

what about?, billy was only concerned about money during the end of the partnership?

will they confirm the rumour that he was holidaying whilst ricky was preparing for lazcano?

HPI,

Whether it be good or bad - why not let things come out in court?

It is for the very reason that both parties may have to face stinging criticisms that things will be settled out of court.

I for one will be delighted if that happens - because the dispute can only be damaging for boxing.

We're talking about a Court of Law here lads.
My ball's bigger than your ball cuts no ice.
It will come down to the facts.
Was there a contract ?
If so is it binding ? - Offer Acceptance and Consideration are the three main issues.
If so, what were the terms ?
Have those terms been honoured ?
If yes - end of Ricky wins.
If no - What should have been paid, and what has been paid.
Court order / judgment.
Consider costs.

Enough of the "whose gang are you in" "i'm gonna say this say that".
What will be, will be.
It all comes out in the wash as they say.
Can't wait to read the full text from Court if it gets that far.

You make a good point, it will be interesting to see the outcome, cause from where im sat and all the info ive seen Graham looks to be the one who will lose, especially if he wants 10% of the whole earnings, why the effin jefff should he get 10% of the PPV money etc if thats what he is after.

I was wanting you to state what you have!!! - THANK YOU!!!

Please take the time to read the Judges findings from the Calzaghe/W arren case - it is very interesting reading.

The Judge takes the time to criticise both parties, witnesses and even has a pop at some legal representatives.

It is due to what I believe this landmark case that the Hatton/Graham dispute is not as clear cut as you make out.

Im all for the court case, Hatton is being made out to be the bad guy here. If it werent for his loyalty to Graham then i doubt graham would have been involved in the mayweather fight in the first place.

His training methods sucked from the footage ive seen.

How can a guy carrying a mattress on his chest with big oven gloves on, pawing slow jabs prepare you for the speed of floyd mayweather???

Be careful what you wish for, HPI.
How would you know, for instance what the contract said about 1/ the percentage, and 2/ How the gross figure subject to the percentage was to be calculated ?
I personally have no idea, and will sit firmly on the rickety old fence until it's resolved.
Let me just ask you this though and please let me have an honest reply.
Billy has instigated the action, presumably following legal advice.
If Ricky's case is sooooooo strong, how would you feel if the case settled out of Court ?
Would your opinion change ?

I dont know anything specific thats why i put at the end of my comment "if thats what he is after" I have no idea, just what ive read across the intergalactic highway supernova

my opinion probably would change, although i wouldnt be surprised, so many of the court cases between high profile individuals get settled out of court. Hattons lawyer was on a tv prog in the north west saying they were happy to challenge him so we can only wait and see.

My point has always been that so many are quick to jump in and slag hatton by saying pay the man etc when they have no clue as to what has gone on.

Merely trying to even the debate out

Alot of the PPV's for Hatton-PBF were sold off the back of the truly excellent 24/7 series IMO, which Graham played a BIG part in. Also did Ricky sacrifice some of his purse for the UK PPV rights? If so surely Graham deserves 'some' (not necessarily 10%) of that money

As has been said it will all come down to facts in court and if I correctly recall that Billy and Hatton never had a contract in place between them, then it doesn't look good for Billy in court.

Surely the man deserves paying something?

did he agree to train Hatton for nothing?
