Featherweights: Salvador Sanchez vs Alexis Arguello

Post by elmersalsa »

Two of the most DYNAMIC LATIN FIGHTERS OF ALL TIME are squared head to head. Sanchez wanted Arguello in 1982, but Alexis had plans for a 4th world title against Aaron Pryor. Anyway, at featherweight in their respective primes both of them were AWESOME!!!

Who would have won in your opinion??? I will go with Salvador Sanchez by split decision in 15 rounds in a CLASSIC!!!

I think this would be a great fight but see Sanchez as having the edge in speed and that would take him to a victory on points I believe!.
There was talk of Sanchez moving up to Lightweight and fighting Arguello for that title just pror to Salvadores tragic death... I belive he would have beaten Arguello at Lightweight too... again, speed being the deciding factor.

Classic fight. I was so looking forward to their matchup in the 80's, but it was not to be......

For my money, Sanchez on points. He had an iron jaw, and I doubt Arguello would've been able to hurt him, and I think he would've outpointed Alexis with his faster hands and ( defintely ) faster foot work.
