Froch v Bute in UK?
Some papers and some message boards are reporting that Froch v Bute unification is almost done, for September. Is this for real? If so, bloody hell they're not messing about.
Bute, risking his title away from the bloody Bell Centre?
Showtime, willing to travel for both guys?

Wouldn't have thought Bute would be willing to travel, but it's good news if he is. Froch is showing how it's done.Autobarn wrote:Some papers and some message boards are reporting that Froch v Bute unification is almost done, for September. Is this for real? its the closest we're going to get to froch-calzaghe
Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
I'd seriously doubt this fight happens outside of Canada, Bute's a superstar over there, Froch is still fairly anonymous this side of the pond.
As far as a prediction goes, I think Bute will frustrate Froch early but he isn't a huge puncher. Froch will get to him by the middle rounds and put his chin and will to the test, I dont think he'll see the final bell, Froch TKO8.

Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
who knows, maybe it'll be like with Arthur Abraham - i.e. everyone thinking he's making an absolute bomb in turkey title defences + the odd decent fight here and there, and then it turns out he's making comparatively little and willing to travel for the money (as in stateside Miranda rematch)charlieb wrote:I'd seriously doubt this fight happens outside of Canada, Bute's a superstar over there, Froch is still fairly anonymous this side of the pond.

Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
Froch is far from 'fairly anonymous' after his last 2 epics on ITVcharlieb wrote:I'd seriously doubt this fight happens outside of Canada, Bute's a superstar over there, Froch is still fairly anonymous this side of the pond.

I really hope this fight happens, especially over here. Not seen muich of Bute, but I've got no doubt that Carl will smash his face in and win by KO down the stretch

Well i seen him in London a week or so back and he had was mobbed by fans,
and before that I seen him on this thing called the TV in two back to back fights of the year.
I'm also sure that millions of others watched too??
if anonymous means the new star of World Boxing then your right, he is anonymous.

Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
FYI in Canada nobody outside the Province of Quebec gives two shits about Bute,
yes he may get 20,000 people in the stadium, but gets no TV numbers.
Froch is a much bigger star World Wide, who has Bute faced?
Fact... he lost to Andrade and his next fight at the Bell center only sold 3900 tickets.
Interbox gives tons of tickets away to the Cage Aux Sport Restaurants,

Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
Ill believe that when I see it.
Id be amazed if Bute ever fights outside of Canada personally.

Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
Maybe 'anonymous' was too far in the other direction, let's just say Bute's profile in Canada is much higher than Froch's here.Hardcase wrote:Froch Anonymous????charlieb wrote:I'd seriously doubt this fight happens outside of Canada, Bute's a superstar over there, Froch is still fairly anonymous this side of the pond.

I wish it were otherwise, and I'd like to see him getting the mainstream recognition and credit he deserves for the fights he's taking, but the man's got a long way to go before he approaches the level of a Calzaghe, let alone a Hatton.
If the fight's being staged in the UK, I'll be happy for the guy, but he's said himself that if he cant get credit at home he'll crack the states.
Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
If that's true then I stand corrected, but that certainly isn't the impression I've gotten from watching pretty much most of Bute's fights, perhaps the commentary was biased.Hardcase wrote:FYI in Canada nobody outside the Province of Quebec gives two shits about Bute,

Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
Bute has never been on Canadian English TV live, just French and PPV .
That said , it will be a massive fight on Quebec PPV .
I would say it could do 50,000 PPV buys (That is lots in Canadian standards?)

Bute by wide decision. Froch doesn't have Andrade's workrate even if he does go forward.

His fight with Andrade was shown on one of the main American channels tho wasnt it? (HBO or Showtime.)
Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
Hope it happens. Be good to see a fighter 'unifying' his division whether it be Bute or Froch. Shame there isn't more of that in other weight divisions.

Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
I hope it happens - Think Froch will batter Bute - I am glad its not Kessler - not just yet!!
Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
ooh, not a hint bias in there max. if froch pulls this off, it is equal to what joe took what, 10 years to do and unify with a skilled title holder (kessler). if froch wins, then you have to come up with some other bullshit putdown, i.e. "calzaghe would of done better"Max Molyneux wrote:Bute by wide decision. BTW, Froch's workrate wasn't too bad in the 12th rd of his hard fight with Taylor. i wonder how many power shots he threw in round 12 - a lot, i would think. more than the few shots that andrade landed at the end of the bute fight, so i don't see where your workrate comparison is coming from.
also, he kept the power punches coming from rds 1-12 vs pascal
Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
Froch will lose this badly. Worse than he was doing against Taylor - in fact, I think Bute KO around 8.
He'll catch Froch every single time he loads. He's got better timing than Taylor, he's tougher than Taylor and, other than the Andrade fight, he has no issues with stamina. His sudden collapse against Andrade was simply because of how Andrade fights - which Froch can't achieve.
I honestly think people haven't seen Froch fighting if they really think he'll beat Bute or Kessler.

Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
Not sure if Froch will beat Kessler, but I can't see him losing to Bute imo.
Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
Go for Pavlik - he's ready made for Froch I think. Punches in lines. Froch would knock him out.
Bute = Only my bias is saying Froch has a chance. Could he get to Bute late? I doubt it.
Hopkins = He schools Froch anytime, anywhere.
Pavlik = It's a war, which Froch would win.

Re: Froch v Bute in UK?
superheavy - I like your thinking! It'd be great if the top guys in this division could get it on - a refreshing change from over cautious promoters - I really think it could happen in this sm division - let's hope it catches on with the rest of boxing.
