Stretch has been in a few films, I think he's in Alexander with Colin Farrell. I know someone who knows him and they say he's thoroughly nice chap these days no airs or graces.

Yeah, he is in "Alexander", and has been living in LA for the last few years. He was married to Rosalyn Sanchez, who was the sexy FBI agent in Rush Hour 2, but I think they're divorced now.

Nice bloke. Good fighter in his day, too. Would've been good if he'd boxed Benn and Watson as well.

HHmmmmm I heard a few dodgy stories.....

I also saw him refereeing a white collar show. His body looked terrible and he looked like he'd done too many sunbeds.

Oh man, Stretch could really pull a bird. He was going out with Lucy Blair when he was fighting (daughter of Lionel and a real stunner). I was once at York Hall when Stretch came out of his dressing room at the back of the hall (he had stopped a guy from Bolton earlier in the evening) and leant against the back wall. Within seconds, birds came from everywhere. It was like flies to a dump. Still don't know where these birds came from. It was frightening.
He later went to Hollywood and starting seeing Racquel Welch. He subsequently dumped her saying she was too old.

Raquel Welch! What a pudendum! Even later on she was fornicating fit. Hope he's fat and wrinkly now, fornicating wanker.

Seen pictures of her before she had tonnes of plastic surgery mind, wasn't too clever then, buck teeth, big hooter, no tits. Her cosmetic surgeon must have been the don.

Yes and he was taken to hospital after Farrell stabbed him whilst filming (accidently!)

I heard a rumour a few years ago that alleged that Lionel's not someone to mess with is by all accounts, despite his cheery persona, he's not someone to err, annoy or you could find yourself, errrr, let's say.... falling down some stairs!

Just something I heard that's all.

Boy George is the same. Anyone who wears what he wore on the streets of Eltham is no pussycat. The O'Dowds were all hard men, and one of them tuned pro.

Haha sounds like the rumours that once surrounded UB40.

Apparently in terms of being a group not to mess around with its them, lest one wishes to practise sky-diving from a multi story carpark (so they say..)

The fight where Lionel Blair was seen cheering Stretch on was against Gary Cooper , if I remember correctly.

I've heard that Leo Sayer is one guy to avoid also. He may appear dandy and gay, but beneath that affable afro-midget exterior lurks a deadly, terrible, heartless monster intent on wanton destruction.

That's what i heard anyway.

Just watched him in a new Brit flic called DEAD MAN'S SHOES.
A film about some low life drug dealers living in rural England, who take advantage of a retarded kid.
His brother then turns up to take his revenge...shocking stuff, and a real twist in the tale.

Stretch is not bad at all - he plays Sonny, the psycopathic boss of the gang. Does a better Vinnie Jones than the man himself.

I might have recounted this before but the best Stretch story I heard was him walking straight to the front of a chip shop queue in St Helens. A bloke in the queue was unfortunately Stuart Evans, one of the hardest blokes ever to come out of South Wales, who went north to play rugby league for Saints, who tapped him on the shoulder and told him there was a queue. Stretch gave it the old 'I'm Gary Stretch, Commonwealth champion' line, and Evans sparked him and carried on queueing.

Yeah, saw Stretch training up at Carnaby Street in the late 80's. After he sparked Derek Wormald.

He thought he owned the place, very arrogant, and preening himself.

Then he got in to spar with John Mugabi.

Goodnight Gary.

I remember the Strech v Cooper fight, it was a good scrap.
Cooper was a traveller that lived in the New forest area, nice guy, and won the British light middle title in the later stage of his career.

Fought his heart out against Strech, but lost widely on points. Strech at the time was getting the big build up through the tv companys.
he was expected to stop Cooper, but it was a tougher fight for him then expected.

In his next fight Coopeer outpointed Ensley Bingham, but never fought after that.

Anyone know what Coopers doing now?
