i don't see this as a typical allegedly opponent at all. Maskaev is well known in america, known perhaps for his knockout losses more than his wins, but appreciated as a dangerous fighter and who can forget what happened vs rahman.

he's also on the comeback trail after a good win last time out.

Can you say all of these things about many allegedly hand pick jobs, especially as billed as 'keep busy' fights? not really.

no I wasnt slating the opponent at all, merely stating is actually a good money making move fomr FW. Was trying to look at it from a different angle to it being a strange match. Its actually quite cute business.

trust me maskeav is past it and isnt a hugh puncher anyway - although he beat the undefeated defiabon last time out defiabon hadnt beaten anyone of note. u should have seen the way oleg got sparked by sanders - he hit sanders with everything he had and sanders didnt blink - then oleg got knackerd and got sparked. he looked very old in that fight. the first big shot from danny will send oleg to the canvas trust me.

Apparently Defiagbon was in terrible shape for the fight. He was described as an 'ancient bow-backed old man' by one fight reporter.

I remember that Defiagbon was a nightmare to fight on Knockout Kings 2001, he was so elusive and kept jabbing the shit out of you.

The punches that Lance Whitaker KO'd Maskaev with didn't look particularly venomous.

I would have picked Williams pretty confidently even before the Tyson win.

Maybe it was 2000. Which was the best version, it was either 2000 or 2001, think it was 2000, after that it went downhill.

E, I have read two seperate time periods of Danny sparring with Maskaev. Firstly, a few years ago when Danny was doing a column on the BBC (I think before he joined the organisation as a fighter) he said that he knew he was world class cause when he went to America he was doing Maskaev (who was in the worlds top ten at the time) in sparring.

Then, I read of the two sparring preperation for the Tyson fight, this time I heard that Maskaev was outclassing Williams.

So, I don't know - it makes it interesting though.
