Calzaghe in Edinburgh

Post by neil r »

found out today that calzaghes next fight, supposedly against either Scott Pemberton or Kabary Salem will take place in Edinburgh. Alex Arthur is lined up to be chief support against an as yet unamed opponent for his prestegious IBF whater-the-fornicate belt it is he has, and gary young will also be on the undercard. the bouts taking place on 22nd October at the royal highland showground at ingleston.

for once it looks like its going to be an interesting couple of months to go boxing in Scotland for a change. We've got Craig Docherty against Snarsky at the Kelvin Hall next month for the European belt, Harrison (maybe) shortly afterwards and then Calzaghe and Arthur a few weeks later.

not too bad

But no too good either, Calzaghe is a prime underachiever. He shouldn't be fighting these people at this stage of his career. Pemberton is not too bad of a match but i never even heard of Salem

Salem LOST to the fighter which Sports Network have said that do not wish to fight as it is a backward step, Mario Veit.

Says it all really.

Pemberton is acceptable (barely - lets not forget, he almost lost a shut out to Brewer, who lost heavily to Calzaghe). But Salem? I would think Viet is more acceptable than Salem, given that he has a rightful claim to be fighting for the championship. The interim champion should be the champions next opponent.
