Ricardo Williams: from Olympic hero to fugitive

Ricardo Williams has been indicted on charges accusing him and two other men of possession and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Williams, 23, who won a silver medal in the 2000 Olympics, remains a fugitive.
Also indicted on the same charges were Dorian Broadnax, 26, of Cincinnati, and Marshall Martinez, 23, a Californian.
Broadnax and Martinez were arrested last week in Cincinnati, Williams' hometown.
The charges carry a prison sentence of 10 years to life.

i think arum signed him for a lot of money. drugs charges are harsh in american he could be locked up for a long time if he is charged. his style never followed into the pro game. when i saw him last he hadly threw a body punch. wasted talent.

Good point, Chris. He got a million dollar signing on fee from Lou DiBella.

dam shame about williams.his heart was never in boxing.he had bundles of talent but habitually would come into the ring fat overweight and under motivated.good job 140 is stacked.

I went to the Olympics in Sydney and got speaking to Ricardo Williams after one of his fights, he came across as a nice guy and introduced me to other members of the team.

its a shame that it appears to have all gone wrong for him, i think it might have been a case of to much to young.

Somebody on the current scene forum knew him as an amateur and said he used to be picked up from amateur events...in a limo!

Marshall Martinez was, ofcourse, the top American lightweight headed for the medals and stardom in Sydney 2000 until he was mysteriously pulled from the US team and replaced with David Jackson.

Former Olympic silver medallist, Ricardo Williams, wanted for drug-related charges, will surrender to police on Monday says his attorney, Ken Lawson.
Williams is one of three suspects indicted for trafficking cocaine.
The other two were arrested earlier this week.

Ricardo Williams failed to turn himself in on Monday as was arranged by his attourney, and is now a wanted fugitive on the run.
