Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
To sum things up I wanted Billy Boyle to win - he is an ex squaddie and thus my reasons for him to win.
However - thought Cleverley looked classy and was too much.
Completely correct of Glyn Rhodes to show the towel to stop the fight.

Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
Can understand Boyle's frustration at the end but things were only going to get worse so it was the right call.

being pedantic , should it of been a DQ win for Cleverley?

Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
didn't see it but surely the second round is a bit too soon for the cornerman to be doing a darkie smith
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
The Mitchell fight was another premature stoppage. Mitchell looked quite sharp, but was still taking a few. This card is turning out even worse than expected.

What a dire card?
Also what was Chisora doing biting Butlin??!
Oh dear Fr@nk you really have served up a pile of $hit tonight.

Technically it should be a DQ but that doesnt look as good on the record as a KO/TKO...Old bones Ian wrote:being pedantic , should it of been a DQ win for Cleverley?

Plus skysports seem to be unable to not tell you the result before showing the undercard fights.
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
It's up to the ref - Marcus McD waved it off so that's that.chesh wrote:That's what I thought.Old bones Ian wrote:being pedantic , should it of been a DQ win for Cleverley?

Spud's right - and so's TT.
Hey - I like Boyley but he's miles away from this and I've said so for his local paper too.
Utterly shit bill - Sky stiffed again. And worse, their boxing subscribers.
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
You're right about Boyle - I suppose I just felt disappointed for him. I'm at the point of cancelling Sky for the first time in over 15 years - and it's because of shite like tonight's card.
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
Why do SKY even bother with Friday Fight Night anymore? They clearly don't give a fornicate. Here's hoping Hatton's shows are better than the shite we've been served up for the last god knows how many months.
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
I haven't seen the case here, but I thought when someone enters the ring the ref HAS to wave it off and call it a DQ - unless he stopped the fight before Rhodes entered the ring. Remember Barrera vs Jones 1.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:

Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
I completely agree an extremely poor - nope f*cking p*ss poor card - for a TV show!!!
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
At the end of the day the fault lies with SKY tv, if they alow this it will continue further, the promoter will get away with what they can and who can blame them, it's a business and they are trying to maximise their profits, and I douby SKY are paying much for what they get
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
I wonder how much Sky were caught/conned. Ian's article with the head of Sky - it seemed to suggest a new approach from sky for "proper" title fights. I wonder how much of Franky baby's pitch included "no more WBU's" just proper title fights as bill toppers.Coco wrote:At the end of the day the fault lies with SKY tv, if they alow this it will continue further, the promoter will get away with what they can and who can blame them, it's a business and they are trying to maximise their profits, and I douby SKY are paying much for what they get

If they were conned, which they prob were, it's entirely their own fault, it's hardly like they lack experience in the game and in dealing with FW.stujones wrote:I wonder how much Sky were caught/conned. Did they really think by insisting particular titles had to be fought for that it would change anything
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
Cleverley just looked SO MUCH bigger in their, too. As a WSO International Light-Heavyweight Title holder I'd expected more from Boyle.
They need to sort out some proper title fights soon, and a proper undercard.
All these "prospects" are picking up wins, but at what point are they going to be given better matched opposition?

Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
Cleverly looked really sharp last night his power has definetly improved
Mitchell did the job got better as the fight went on
Smith so fast the boy he fought looked reasonably good but couldnt deal with the speed
The Walsh brothers all cocky but totally diffrent fighters i prefered the one who fought Callaghan
Chisora I was impressed apart from the bite he looked fast and good variotation of punches

I see Billy is really annoyed - yeah the pride must be hurt a bit and that shows he cares - heres a video of the interview afterwards:

Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
Boyle was worse than the 2 African oppos Clev has just fought.
Boyo looked sharp and quick but he no banger thats for sure .
He has had no proper test yet and its only a matter of time before his bubble is burst.

Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
it was a complete mismatch, just as i called it before the fight..
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
Boyle was outclassed in a huge way but despite his limitations he just went in there and gave 100% which is all you can do. He may moan about the stoppage but I think Glyn Rhodes got it right.
Re: Spoiler - Cleverley v Boyle
Clev looked quality, but would like to see someone test his chin.
Chisora showed bits of quality, but don't know how he'd match up against Fury.
Smith looked quality in the rounds that was shown, shame the lad he fought just wanted to wrestle.
Mitchell looked good when he turned it on.
M Walsh looked ok getting the stoppage, but can't help thinking (and hoping) that high chin of his gets tagged in the future.
