This is what i said before the fight today........

"Tyson will finish Belshaw quite early, possib;y the second round. Fury has bigger power and a better range of shots, where as Belshaw is quite limited and rely's heavily on the left hand jab, followed by a right hook. Fury will open him out with his precise body shots and then take him out in the second round. I don't think this fight will be close at all......."

Nice to be right sometimes

Gareth wrote:DB your printed article in BN was a farce mate. You managed to get names etc all wrong. If your going to take someone elses interview/article you could at least try and proof read the damn thing and make sure it is correct. According to BN you have a Bantamweight boxer training a HW boxer ?

You just should have let someone who knew the team carry out the interview and write the piece. Then publish their article instead of your own.

Personal opinion, "feckin farce."
First of all, let's clear up this crap about stealing Steve's piece. the person who originally said this was joking but quite a few people seem to have taken it seriously. I wanted to interview Belshaw and I knew Steve knew Alan Wilton so I asked him for the number. That's it. Steve had not spoken to the boxer or the trainer and in fact said he didn't have time to. So there was no story to steal... Ask him if you like; we are friends, there is no sinister element to this.

As for the Belshaw story, I have no idea what errors you are on about and I've just re-read it to check... can you please point them out (I'm sure Bennie would be happy to help you) and I'll try to improve. Whose name was wrong? And who is the bantamweight trainer? Help me out a bit.

Firstly, get off your high horse, theres no need to get upset.

I mentioned stealing Steve's story first ? Yes as a joke so who else it taking it seriously not me ? I would hazzard a guess that CP's post was also in jest, hence the shame smiley.

Secondly Steve asked me for Alan's number to pass on to you. A few minutes after I sent the number I txt him again to confirm the Belshaw Fury story, at that point he siaid he might call Scott. Anyone can write a story theres no exclusive rights to them. I just like to keep Steve posted on what is happening in our gym, as he has done a fair bit for the Ama side of the club.

As for the BN printed story (I have no idea who Bennie is BTW). " Belshaw is currently back in Belfast, training under two brothers Luke and Sam Wilton" Luke is Sam's nephew, and Alans son. Luke is a bantamweight boxer. Alan and Sam currently train Belshaw, not Luke and Sam. That was the point I was making, you got it right on the net article but wrong in the printed article. When I read this in BN after reading it correctly online I thought it was poor proof reading. I then refered to the fact that if someone who knew the boxers and had spent time in the gym etc (IE Steve) they would not have made the same mistake as they know the guys personally.

Hope this clears the whole thing up for you.

Thanks for clarifying. firstly, im on no high horse but the day the exposure of ur own mistakes dsnt upset u is the day u should quit the job. also, if we got just one name wrong once, in the proofing process not the original copy as u pointed out, y did u say we, or i, got "all the names etc wrong?" mild exaggeration? and bennie is an ex bn employee who likes to criticise his former employers.

I really can't be bothered with this, you made a mistake I pointed it out, I dont need a war of words etc.

(y did u say we, or i, got "all the names etc wrong?") That is not what I wrote, but I understand where you are comming from. The fact you got it right in the ORG online article, really means you should have got it right in the BN printed version; I think thats why I felt so strongly about it. Though you did even say today that you read it again and couldn't see the mistake.

I enjoy reading your stuff and will give praise where I feel it is due but at the same time expect your mistakes to be pointed out aswell. Hell some of you guys can make a living from pointing out boxers mistakes

I do not want a war of words either and i appreciate constructive criticism. my point was that i dnt think one mistake qualifies an article as a farce. if u really believed that id never please u fully. but thanks anyway, time to kill some proofers...

No, you were. I believe you said the black cloud over "my head" which I've been reliably informed is bigger than Audley Harrison's.
Please don't write in mobile phone text, either - ever.

PS: Keep up the sloppy fare and tell Abrams to forget the corporate image for once for the sake of boxing fans, of readers.

The generation gap is a painful thing, sometimes. When you write something you have a responsibility to the reader(s), unless it is a diary, of course. Ah, what do you care about your readers. BN looks (and reads) like one of those free mags you pick up at train stations.

I don't write txt speak in BN son, only on the forums which r a more casual interface. If ppl have probs understanding me then I'll change it but I dnt hear any1 else complaining.

As 4 free mags, Shortlist for example (available at most major train stations) is laid out very well and has won awards 4 it so I'll take ur comments as a compliment.

Finally, how do you know so much about BN when u never read it? 80% of your posts appear to be about a magazine you have not read for years.
