Unbelievable

Post by Wilko »

From allegedly.tv:

WBU World Cruiserweight Champion ENZO MACCARINELLI has reported David Haye to the charity Age Concern for continually beating up veteran boxers!

Maccarinelli is worried that Haye is going to batter 40-year-old senior citizen Carl Thompson next month after walloping another veteran, Arthur Williams, in May this year.

Big Mac, who will defend his title against Denmark’s Jesper Kristiansen on 3 September in Newport, said, “ I am seriously worried about Haye so I reported him to Age Concern because he is a real danger to the older generation. First it was Williams and next up it will be Thompson - where will it stop? The answer is it won’t until he fights me.”

The 23-year-old Swansea puncher continued, “He won’t fight me because he knows that I will match him and better him for size, strength, speed, power and skill and will fight back. He will get a taste of his own medicine and he won’t like it,”

He added, “He is disrespectful towards the World champions of the division and I can’t stand that either. How can he say he will beat the IBF World Champion Kelvin Davis in November? He is living in dreamland and I would love the chance to bring him back to reality,” he stormed.

Maccarinelli finished by saying, “Leave the OAP’s alone and fight a real fighter. Don’t come up with excuses that I won’t fight you for 18 months, I’ll fight you right now.”

Really am sick and tired of the shit coming out of several Sports Network fighters at the moment.

Would love to see Enzo get beaten soon although it won't happen as he's so protected.

Can't imagine Enzo getting in the ring with Thompson in only his 11th fight - or 100th fight.

On another thread there is an idea for a Hatton-Cott - why not extend it to all Sports Network fighters?

Enzo forgets he has made a career out of beating past their best, out of condition cruisers..... a prime Scott or a prime Delaney would have knocked him out cold

I read the thread earlier and thought WHY?, why do sports network need to put out something like that, maybe to detract from all the other shite they seem to be coming out with(in contex to slagging every other fighter on the planet of), The whole thing is bollocks.

Agreed.

If he does fight Nelson he'll get ridiculously outpointed or sparked out.

Infact I'm at the Cruiser limit myself and fancy my chances....

Really is pathetic. Enzo seems like a nice bloke but Warren is just an ass.

I may report Warrent to Trading Standards for calling himself a "Top Promoter"

Enzo's been lined up to fight so many old men it's untrue. Jorge Castro, Carlos Cruzat and Cecil McKenzie were so old - and so bad - the Board turned them down.
And who does he want to fight next? The 38-year-old Johnny Nelson.

When Nelson does fight Enzo he will make him look stupid, Nelson can bang and is very hard to hit, Why do they put statements out like this it just make enzo look like a prick, he always boasts that if he catches you clean you will go, lets be honest 95% of boxers who get caught clean would go, He's going to be 30-1 and still fighting light heavies and bums, at least Haye isnt scared of having a go and if he does get beat at least he stood up to the plate, they are really starting to piss me of

When Enzo says Haye is disrespecting the world champions in the division I hope he doesn't include himself in that group.

Sorry Enzo the WBU belt is good for holding up your trousers but nothing else.

I am amazed that this sort of drivel makes it's way on to the SN site. It says a lot about the mentality of the people that run the place.

I wonder what he'd say if Haye did beat Kelvin Davis in November?!

13.08.04 - Fight Academy and Carl Thompson were saddened to read the Sports Network press release “Macc concerned for Haye”, which featured ill-informed criticism by Swansea’s Enzo Maccarinelli regarding the credentials of IBO world cruiserweight champion Carl Thompson and unbeaten David Haye ahead of their title clash at Wembley Arena on September 10.

It is not our policy at Fight Academy to descend to petty squabbling and we will not allow a misguided publicity stunt to tarnish Thompson vs Haye, which most independent observers believe could be the British fight of 2004 following a disappointing year where a succession of major bouts have failed to materialise.

We do not wish to belittle any boxer’s record, but we believe if you look at the fighters involved - and their professional records and achievements - the facts clearly speak for themselves.

Until I actually see Enzo's lips moving and those words coming out to match, I won't believe he said it. A bit uncharacteristic - think it's Sports Network banging a few drums. Amazing that they've chosen to come out with this just after Hatton and Skelton see fights fall through and Williams storms the world stage by facing Maskaev. Have they no sense of irony?

Enzo was a nice fella when I met him J.

rubberjohnny wrote:I've just read the Haye Interview in this week's BN (Should read BS!)

Haye said that the best should fight the best and there should be no excuses. Is this the same Haye who dropped his English title and run for the hills rather than fight veteran Bruce Scott, who Enzo Maccarrinelli had sparked out already. Smells like hypocrisy to me.

Also, why two adverts in Boxing News? like the tickets for the fight, was it 'Buy one get one Free' .

Wembley Arena? is the ring in the Foyer or something.

Old Man Carl will spark him out after getting one sided beating.

RubberJ - are you really criticising the Haye v Thompson match-up? Not trying to be provocative but I welcome an intelligent reason to knock the fight.
