Something needs to be done about Dave Parris
Thats three times on the trot that this old codger has fu*ked up and cost fighters.
1. Sexton vs Rogan debacle.
2. CHisora BITING Butlin.
3. Stopping McDermott too soon.
This guy needs to have his licence revoked in my opinion. Something has to be done.

He's a notorious home town scorer as a judge too.

Agreed. He would have given that Evans fight to Evans last night, whereas Richie Davies rightly called it a draw.steve689 wrote:He's a notorious home town scorer as a judge too.
Re: Something needs to be done about Dave Parris
I don't want to do the man down, but he has had lots of off nights recently... remember the Barrera vs Khan fight, and the Matthews vs Choi fight.

Agree 100%. I was fully expecting it to be awarded to Evans as I've got so used to Warren shows.confirmation wrote:Agreed. He would have given that Evans fight to Evans last night, whereas Richie Davies rightly called it a draw.steve689 wrote:He's a notorious home town scorer as a judge too.

Something needs to be done about you "Search" - you were banned under your original name and thus the moderators should ban you now.
Your comments concerning Hatton were a complete disgrace and so were your comments threatening my family!!!

The bloke threatened my family and made disgusting comments concerning Ricky Hatton - you are not a moderator - nor am I - the moderators banned "search" so why is he allowed to come on this forum as "confirmation".
He makes no attempt to eat humble pie for his comments or is it simply I have to take my own action concerning his unequivocal threats towards my family? - that would be getting silly when the mods have done half the job and that was banning one of his names!!!
Re: Something needs to be done about Dave Parris
To my knowledge there is only one mod who can ban, in addition to Shep... so why don't you PM him. I am a mod, but as I said most of the mods cannot ban.

You've been warned to stick to boxing mate. The mods will take action if you consistantly ruin the board with these posts. Take the warning on board or get banned from the only british boxing board you can post on. It's up to you mate.Spud wrote:Get stuffed!!!stujones wrote:Stick to boxing, the site runs very well.Spud wrote:Something needs to be done about you "Search" - you were banned under your original name and thus the moderators should ban you now.

Re: Something needs to be done about Dave Parris
Agreed he stopped it way too soon last night, the refs in general seem to be stopping fights too soon recently. It was a title fight and McDermott had his faculties about him, give him another chance at least to get up and see what he did.

Re: Something needs to be done about Dave Parris
Maybe it should work as it does with Football referees, in that if you are deemed to have had too many off days, or nights, as in the case of Parris, then you are demoted for a while. The only reason this won't happen, is because of the old boys network at the BBB of C, or there are'nt enough top referees available, but he has made a host of bad calls recently, with the worst three being Rogan, Barrera and McDermott.
Re: Something needs to be done about Dave Parris
I don't think referees should worry about their carrers if they are stopping fights to protect the health of a fighter.

Re: Something needs to be done about Dave Parris
If that was the case, then Parris should have stopped the Khan - Barrera fight in the second round, because Barrera's cut was no worse in the second round, than it was in the 5th round, when it was eventually stopped. There was only one reason the fight was stopped in the 5th round and not the second round and that's because you need to get past four rounds, in order for the fight to go to the scorecards. So Parris was quite happy that night, to let Barrera carry on with blood pouring down his face for another three rounds, just so the fight could be awarded to Khan on points and not be made a nil and voild. Hardly looking after Barrera's health that night was he.josh fg wrote:I don't think referees should worry about their carrers if they are stopping fights to protect the health of a fighter.

Then where do you draw the line in protecting fighters??? as soon as someone is staggered by a punch?? why not fight with 25 ounce gloves?? why not were Headgaurds that completely protect the chin and eyes? In fact why not ban it all together? then nobody's health is at risk.
Boxing by its very nature is risky to the health......your attitude to me makes no sense at all!!

it's a very valid point and certainly raises a few questions more than it answers. Even Barrera, who was never uncomfortable whatsoever (from a boxing point of view)...I know I was there, said it should have been stopped straight away due to the cut and the complete lack of visibility in one eye!

It gives an insight into Parris' mentality when he was referring the match.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:Quixall wrote:If that was the case, then Parris should have stopped the Khan - Barrera fight in the second round, because Barrera's cut was no worse in the second round, than it was in the 5th round, when it was eventually stopped. If he would do something like that, which nobody can deny, then it really reveals him as a shady character and a really bad referee in the sport. With his recent howlers, I think it's time someone did something about it.
Nobody will, of course. If he had any pride, he would retire.

Any comments regarding his performance at bradford today?

Re: Something needs to be done about Dave Parris
Well you seem to have got side tracked in to using the generic term "referees", where as my criticism was in line with the title of the thread, ie, Dave Parris himself. Parris has been singled out, because he has'nt been consistent with his decisions, in comparison to other referees. I actually answered the initial post on this thread, by stating that Referees should be demoted a level, if it's deemed that their performance has slipped below a standard that is required at a particular level. Whether that applies to Dave Parris or not is for others in an official capacity to decide. My point was that Parris on the night of the Khan - Barrera was on the side of boxing politics and not a fighters health, which i feel is a valid statement to make, given the circumstamces and outcome of that fightPunchy Joe wrote:josh fg wrote:I don't think referees should worry about their carrers if they are stopping fights to protect the health of a fighter.

Its clear to all that Parris has been inconsistant and the Khan Barrera fight is a shocker. I actually forgot how bad that was intil you pointed it out.
I may get some flak for this, but I've never liked Parris since the Hatton Tszyu fight. He let Hatton away with murder in the fight (Hatton had the beating of Tszyu anyway with his pressure and size imo) but he got away with too much.
Parris just isn't a good referee in my opinion and it's gotten to the stage now where the howlers are beginning to add up. How many more are we going to have to see before something is done?
Re: Something needs to be done about Dave Parris
Paris , obviously does has he's told.

Careful there mate. Thats a direct a accusation of corruption.coneye wrote:Paris , obviously does has he's told.
Not cool.
Moreover, it's nonsence. It's hardly the case that he was "looking after" the fighters of a specific promotor, is it?
