Scott Harrisons rescheduled defence of his WBO belt will now take place on the 29 October at the Braehead Arena as opposed to the original venue for the proposed 10th september fight which was due to be at the Kelvin Hall. the opponent still looks as though it will be Samuel Kebede.
Strange that this fight should be back at the Braehead Arena. If what we think is correct aboutt he original bout going to the Kelivn Hall due to apparently poor ticket sales at Braehead, it holds around 5000, then it seems to make no sense moving it back there.
The fight takes place on a Friday night. however on Friday 15th October Craig Docherty fights the russina Boris Sinitsin at the kelvin hall for the European super-featherweight title.
the following friday, 22nd, Joe Calzaghe defends of his belt at the Royal Highland Showground in Ingliston with cheif support from Alex Arthur. gary young, another edinburgh fighter is also slotted to appear
which leaves the harrison bout on the final friday of the month. obviously a few folks will go to all 3. myself i will probably go to the docherty fights and the calzaghe card and give braehead a miss ( for various reasons). and this i think could be a bit of a problem for uncle frank. if the original idea to move the harrison bout was financial, and that was before the calzaghe card was announced, then it seems ever more likely now that less people will attend the fight at braehead than before.
one of the grumbles that ive often had about attending the SN shows at Braehead, other than the nightmare journey getting there, is the quality of the undercards. for most part i was placated by the fact that until recently the main supports for harrison were arthur and young. for this reason i would go. arthur also has a large travelling suport from edinburgh and gary young always takes a few coachloads to wherever hes fighting.
now if their both fighting the week prior to the harrison bout, uncle frankie obviously loses 2 of the main support fighters and a large quantity of ticket sales to their supporters who will obviously make the trip to Ingleston due to tha fact its in Edinburgh. and therefor the ticket sales suffer and the supporting undercard starts to lack genuine appeal, probably consisting of the usual SN journeymen and the perennial s/o.
seems frankies made a bit of a boo boo here

i thing half empty is a bit harsh. it certainly wasnt full but was considerably more than half empty. this just strikes me as a very strange piece of scheduling by Warrenbennie wrote:How strange. The Scottish press made a big thing about Harrison breaking the record of Jim Watt's five world title wins (they are currently tied) at the same venue Watt graced magnificently in the 70's.
And now the fight's at Braehead, which has been half-empty for Harrison's last two fights.
