That's awful news. Having just watched the Tyson docu-film on Saturday it was clear Tyson's love of his children is one of the few things that gives him some kind of moral centre.

I can recall when Tyson said he wanted to eat a man's children... You reap what you sow, but I still feel for Tyson. As they say in the States: you gotta love him.

Do you really think he literally meant it? No he didn't, it was part of an excellent rant which summarised Mike as a feared man back to doing what he does best, "reap what you sow" is a really insensitive comment imo.

Just to mention it on this thread is one of the worst things you have wrote - yeah okay he said it - but is it appropriate to mention things on this thread??

Let the little one RIP

This is terribly, terribly sad news and my heart goes out to Mike and his family. There can be few things worse in life to endure and like others here I hope that they are surrounded by good people who can help to support and comfort them.

RIP.

Your comment here is uncalled for and very insensitive, how can you put what he said in jest in hype and excitment of a fight (ok it was an over the top thing to say but....) in line with what has happened to his daughter, I mean it's like saying, 'oh well, he said that so its not so tragic news really! 'You rep what you sow'!...It's like saying tough, you deserve it! What are you on mate! Would like to see you say to Tyson's face 'You rep what you sow'!

Boxing fans have short memories, so I'll start with the blurred period - the 1980s - when Tyson was undoubtedly the most frightening puncher of that era and cleaned up the heavyweight division in real style.
As for the remainder of his career, when Mike Tyson bit off Evander Holyfield's ear (who has about 25 kids, many of them watching, no doubt) he did something nobody else has surpassed in the entire history of our sport: he reduced it to the level of sickening street violence and, for that, should NEVER be forgiven.
Now, a lot of heavyweight champs have been controversial, of course, but they still knew the difference between boxing, which is controlled, and violence, which is uncontrolled. Tell me if Sonny Liston ever bit off someone's ear, spat it out and then tried doing it a second time. Did Joe Frazier attempt to attack an opponent (and everyone else in the ring) after he had been disqualified (not that Smokin' Joe ever was disqualified)? Did Jack Dempsey ever step around a referee and attack a man who had just been rescued by that same referee? Did George Foreman attempt to break an opponent's arm in a clinch? Did Jack Johnson grope the 12-year-old niece of his trainer?
Anyone who still believes in Tyson as a man should give up on a lost cause. I feel sorry for his daughter and his daughter's mother. For Tyson? In the midst of his crazy, out-of-control life, he was in death.
We all are.

I lost respect for Tyson the boxer a long time ago, and as a man he has doubtless done some deplorable things but this is still tragic news and, personally, regardless of past indiscretions or worse I can't help but to have sympathy for him at this time. To me it's a natural response based on a basic humanity that isn't dependent on having to earn sympathy.

I know what Benny's getting at. When tragedy strikes, all sins are forgotten and everyone focuses on the good things - as with Corrales recently. I think Glyn Leach went against that with the Berbick picture in BM, after Berbick was killed.

it is a bit misguided if you ask me.....two totally separate things. An off the cuff remark and a life shattering event.
I hope the big bald fcker can somehow manage to overcome this........I think he has a few kids doesn't he?...hopefully they can find comfort in each other.
Whatever happens to Tyson if it wasn't for boxing he'd be dead or serving time so at least that's something.

I remember all of this but none of it equals the death of a child. Using the term "reap what you sow" makes me think that you think he deserves it because of all the messed up stuff he has done in the past. He doesn't.

Good time to be judgemental?! So Tyson had a wrong moment and bite a mans ear who has many kids who may have been watching...'What he did should never be forgiven'...Ok so his kid deserves to die now and he deserves to suffer for the rest of his life because of that and what he said of the cuff?! ..is that what your saying you stupid man!.. Yes he was wrong to do that but there are levels, come on.. comparing the two situations.. his child has died for f*ck sake, wonder what wrong you may have done in the past on that level which would kind of justify something as terrible happen to you...'to reap what you sow! Stupid, silly comment and you would be more of a man to admit that.

I see where his point is!! - however this is the death of a little one - a tragic death as any are but when it involves a little one - then the benefit of doubt goes to the little nipper who doesn't have a chance to do well in life.

The thread is - or should be - a RIP for the child - not for making good or bad points!!

i know it's not helpful or sensitive saying this after it happened. but kids have to hve an eye kept on them around machinery, equipment, things they can hurt themselves on.
