off topic - Accomodation in London.
Would appreciate if this topic wasn't moved, can be locked in a few days though. Reason being there are lots of Londoners who post on this forum only.
Does anyone know of any cheap hotels/travelodge or whatever in the Capital. I thought with advanced booking I could get somewhere cheap... I still cannot find anywhere less than £50 a room. Yes, that might be classed cheap in London... but when booking 2 months in advance most travelodges are £19 or even £9.
Don't care about the class of the hotel, doesn't have to have food or even a TV.. just the price really. If it was closer to the tourist attractions then a bonus (and I also no there is no chance of that happening), but not essential.

Strangely enough, there is a character called 'Captain Hook' in a children's novel I teach to Year 9 called 'Stone Cold'...Captain Hook rents out space on a barge in London for homeless kids for £3 a night.Captain Hook wrote:Stu - http://www.travelstay.com/Cheap_London_ ... nAodjEBuCg

Cheers for the feedback. 2nd question, how awkard is it to get to Central London from Stanstead via Public Transport.
Re: off topic - Accomodation in London.
Stanstead is miles away from Central London but I imagine there are decent transport links
Re: off topic - Accomodation in London.
train direct from Stansted to Liverpool Street via Tottenham Hale

You might be better off pulling up the £50. Otherwise you get stuck too far out, and what you save on your hotel, you'll end up paying out on transport.
Re: off topic - Accomodation in London.
Stu there's one in Finchley (NW4) for about 25 pounds per night.

There's a couple of hostels springing up. 'Journeys' Have a few, one in Lambeth Walk, which is only a short walk from Parliament Square, might be worth a look.
Re: off topic - Accomodation in London.
The Stansted Express is £18 each way though. When are you travelling i know some very good deals but the dates are restricted.

Re: off topic - Accomodation in London.
£60 is pretty reasonable for central London. Yes you may find something cheaper further out but travelling in and around the capital is very expensive. Dont bother going if you are looking for a cheap couple of days. Whatever happens you will end up spending loads, its London and it costs. Try buying a cup of coffee, the prices are rediculous. Mind you could go to McDonalds I suppose if you dont mind getting the shits.
