The biggest twat is that Craig Doyle. Not even British, the licence fee payer load his bank account to fornicate off around the globe on the Holiday programme.
Then he lands on his feet getting a job as a sports anchor! I have seen him talk about several sports...he knows nothing about any of them.
Where is the justice in that? Jealous? You're damned right!

He's there to present though - surely no-one expects him to be an expert.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:The biggest twat is that Craig Doyle. Not even British, the licence fee payer load his bank account to fornicate off around the globe on the Holiday programme.

You love playing Devil's Advocate, don't you? Do you think a presenter should know a reasonable amount about whatever sport he is being paid to talk and ask questions about? If not, fine. I never said he should be an expert.Matchfixer wrote:He's there to present though - surely no-one expects him to be an expert.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:The biggest twat is that Craig Doyle. Changing the angle a minute here, but what people don't realise is that the judges sit on different sides of the ring and that this in itself brings up the problem of enough judges hitting their buttons at the right time to score.
How can a judge score a point if he cannot see it land clearly? Remember, they're looking up at the ring, whereas at home, we're seeing it from all kinds of angles. Not only that, but surely all of the judges' reactions are different, so they might not hit the button in time. It's a shitty way of judging a fight IMO and I'd hate to be one of those guys sat their hitting the buttons, it must be a nightmare.
Trust me, I've been at a fight where I thought one guy was a handy winner then when I've watched the video at home, it's been a different fight.
Well done Amir. Good performance from a 17-year-old in his first Games, taking on the home boxer.
If he can get to the final and give Kindelan a good scrap, it will be one hell of an achievement.

All true but what about when points are awarded without punches being thrown or landing. It means 3 out of the 5 saw a point that wasn't there!DIRT SUGAR wrote:Changing the angle a minute here, but what people don't realise is that the judges sit on different sides of the ring and that this in itself brings up the problem of enough judges hitting their buttons at the right time to score.

Well this was exactly my point yesterday. While I can accept certain scores being missed, what is the excuse for awarding points when punches haven’t landed.Matchfixer wrote:All true but what about when points are awarded without punches being thrown or landing. Anyone who taped Kaparonis & Khan yesterday, watch the first 15 seconds again. The Greek lands ONE punch on Amir in that time …and promptly goes 3-0 up…..
I gather this system was brought in after the controversy surrounding results in the Seoul Olympics, but some of the scoring is still a bit dodgy in my opinion.

My interpretation is that he is only a presenter, no knowledge of sport necessary. When the action cuts to a sport the commentators there fill you in...Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:You love playing Devil's Advocate, don't you? OK he's there for the ladies but it's a big improvement on the smug looking Inverdale.
