Tyson and his look a likes...

Post by Robinson »

Hey guys I am curious to know if any one has come across
with any stories, vids or snippets where Tyson has discussed
his look a likes..

guys that always get credited with being a 'twin' for Tyson.

Kelvin Davis, Cliff Couser...even David Tua for a while.

I recall reading on here a little while ago about Tyson and Couser
bumping in to one another at a barber, and it turned out that
they shared the same father....?

In any case thanks in advance.

Couser is a good fighter

Sedreck Fields is another look-alike

No I can't find any, but all his lookalikes share 1 thing in common- they can't take a good punch

The Couser story, at least according to Cliff himself when I interviewed him a few years ago (when he was still good) is as follows:

He said they shared the same father, but his mum didn't realise the connection until one day she saw a Tyson interview on TV in which he mentioned his father's name. However she didn't tell Cliff of the connection.

By pure coincidence, Cliff took up boxing, with some talent but no major trainer or promoter. He struggled through his early career, amassing a winning record but not gaining much attention. He then started to pick up some useful results, for example against Tillis and Gonzalez.

At which point his mum decided to tell him the truth about his dad and half-brother. Apparently she didn't tell him earlier because she didn't want to distract him, but now he was starting to show some promise in boxing, she thought it was a good time.

So Cliff asked to meet Tyson, who agreed to it, and they met in a barber shop in Vegas sometime around the early stages of Tyson's comeback. It was cordial enough and Tyson offered to support Cliff's boxing career by sending him some kit.

But he didn't, which annoyed Cliff, so it was at this point he revealed his relationship to Tyson and called him out for a "brother vs brother" fight. Of course this was never likely to happen, but it was the birth of the "Twin Tyson" legend.

Since then, Cliff claims the two have made friends and remain on good terms, and that Tyson accepts that he is his brother.

---

Of course this is just one version of events, but I'm inclined to believe the connection because 1) Tyson's father was a known womaniser who probably has children in every state, 2) the likeness is just TOO good! 3) if it was all just a gimmick based around Cliff's appearance, why did he not run with it from the beginning? Hell, if I looked like that and wanted to be "looked after" by a promoter, I'd certainly spin that line from the first opportunity!

I'm inclined to not believe a word of it.

Very interesting post

Couser, in my opinion, is still good

They've just matched him too hard

There was a rip off guy around the time of Tyson, he had the shape, the back shorts, no socks.
He did the head movement bit as well. He got knocked out and it was shock as for split second I thought it was him - no idea who it was though :witzend:

Well I guess nobody knows for sure, but I think point 3 is significant. As I said, if it's all a lie/gimmick, why not do that from the start?
