Its not going to happen. Just not.
Klitschko will fight stand in, then fight Povetkin. Haye will have to wait. Sad, but true.

Re: haye klistcho off
All this hot air and bluster is to for show.
Haye is back in the queue and needs a work out.
The ideal but impossible scenario would be to fight Valuev in July and Chagaev fight Wk in June.

Re: haye klistcho off
RTL won't do July 11 as they are covering the German Grand Prix that weekend. Apparently the boxing team (they only cover the Klitschkos) are more or less the same as the F1 team.

Plus the clash with Sturm. It's like putting Hatton and Calzaghe on at the same time.RLewis wrote:RTL won't do July 11 as they are covering the German Grand Prix that weekend. Apparently the boxing team (they only cover the Klitschkos) are more or less the same as the F1 team.
Re: haye klistcho off
I can't see Klit having the time or opportunity to fit in the Haye voluntary now.
I think it would be better trying to get the Valuev fight, a more winnable fight too, and then he would be in a much better bargaining position when the Klit fight comes round again

Re: haye klistcho off
David's chance has gone. Klitschko will fight on June 20. 60,000 tickets have been sold and K2 will not want to give rerfunds. I don't blame them for looking elsewhere. why should he waste his training? He is in the Klitschko industry not Haye's.
I'm no back expert but can it be that serious if only a three week delay? Don't shout me down on that. I am just asking.
How many times do you hear tennis players etc get by with injections until certain periods of the calendar are passed by?

Re: haye klistcho off
Lets not forget Vitali is still champ, he may step up to the plate.
Although I cant see that happening on July 11th, but hasnt he just fought his mandatory, so how about August?

Re: haye klistcho off
I wonder what the contract says about cancellations?
Re: haye klistcho off
The only other time I can recall Haye pulling out of a fight is when he was due to face Mark Hobson (the first time).
David Haye has pulled out of his British and Commonwealth cruiserweight title clash with champion Mark Hobson on 22 July after injuring a hamstring.
The 24-year-old Haye is expected to make a full recovery in three weeks.
Haye said: "I'm gutted. Preparation had gone as well as it could and I'd been feeling as good as ever.
"The British Boxing Board Of Control has been told and they have assured me that I am still mandatory challenger to Hobson's title."

Re: haye klistcho off
Some interesting theories were expressed at the time...
The eagerly awaited grudge match between Mark Hobson and David Haye is back on, promoters Fight Academy have confirmed.
The meeting, for Hobson's British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles, will take place on Friday October 14th. Sky Sports televise live.
Hobson was to have defended against mandatory challenger Haye in July, but a hamstring injury forced Haye to pull out with a week to go. Now fit to resume training, British boxing's bitterest rivals will be able to settle their differences once and for all.
And Hobson's trainer, Chris Aston, has wasted no time in firing the first verbal volley. "It would seem that Haye has found a miracle cure. He went on and on about how he'd beat Hobson so easily so why did he pull out? If he's in a different class to Hobson he should still have been able to win, injured or not."
Former world amateur silver medallist Haye has won 13 of his 14 fights, all by knockout, and is eager to test himself on the European and World stage. But Aston feels his charge will curtail such lofty ambitions.
"Someone should explain to Haye that if he wants to win titles he actually has to turn up and fight. Hobson was looking superb in training last time and we'll be picking up exactly where we left off. We're very confident of winning this."
The 29-year-old Hobson, who secured the coveted Lonsdale belt outright with a points victory over Bruce Scott last December, has issued Haye with a stark warning. "We all know what's gone on. Haye better turn up this time."

Re: haye klistcho off
So basically what?
Re: haye klistcho off
shit happens chaps look at how many times vitali pulled out of fights injured....
Re: haye klistcho off
That Haye pulled out relatively late citing an injury but deemed he'd be ready to fight 3 weeks later, as he is doing with Klitschko. At the time both Hobson and Aston questioned the legitimacy of Haye's injury.Lenny wrote:So basically what?
In the interests of balance, the fight was re-scheduled for October and this time Hobson pulled out after going down with shingles. Haye fought in Huddersfield on the night (Hobson's back yard) and beat Vincenzo Rossito.

I'd be amazed if this WASN'T about money.

Re: haye klistcho off
Yep, me too.
If Setanta cannot be trusted to pay the readies and that is Haye's only financial income for this bout, and Haye has signed in for 3 bouts with Klitschko, 2 of which I think are contracted to Setanta, he could theoretically be paid 4/5ths of sweet FA for facing the two most dangerous opponents out there......
If he doesn't fight this fight, the contract is essentially redundant, Haye can renegotiate providing he can remain relevant and attractive at the Klits go into unifications and mandatories with Chagaev, Valuev, Povetkin, Gomez etc and if he beats a top 5-10 guy in the interim perhaps enhance his own status in the meantime.
A delay may lose him some momentum, faith and support but it could prove more lucrative and reliably lucrative over the next 12-18 months.

Re: haye klistcho off
The faith and support might not come back for him though. Haye is not a busy fighter and up until this fight has never really sold the tickets to suggest he has a fanbase.
I certainly won't buy a ticket to see him fight abroad again, legit injury or not. Haye will never be as popular as he was 2 days ago.

Re: haye klistcho off
But it could prove to be the death knell for Setanta.
Football fans in a time of recession will not take out Setanta subscription for £13 per month for a reducing output and England games.
Boxing fans will not continue to pay £13 a month if it proves to be little more than a PPV fee for one US or German car a month and Buncey's boxing hour.
There seems to be dissent on oher sports too.
Creditors cannot be found, SKY are waiting for them to fold to pick up the football.
Its looking like Setanta may be gone by the time September comes.
If Haye had gone through with this fight, it could have been for free, putting him, even in victory into a Klitschko contractual stranglehold with restricted income, particularly if Setanta stumbled on operationally but without audience or the finance to fund Haye's wages - which may have been tied to audience and subscriptions?
Who knows.
But money is in here somewhere. Even if the injury is correct - it whifs of, if all else had been well, this fight would have gone ahead.

Re: haye klistcho off
A real shame if it is due to Setanta money situation. What will happen to Hayemaker promotions next fight?
Re: haye klistcho off
If it was about money, I reckon Haye would have said it, rather than try to claim some false injury.
