Re: Danny's career path?
again a very realistic point of viewbennie wrote:Well, we all know Warren is unable to deliver the big name opponents any more. He got Tyson for Danny but only because Tyson's team thought they had got a real patsy for half the price of Kevin McBride. The plan is for Danny to win the WBU title (though it's no sure thing), then defend against all the heavyweights in the Sports Newtwork camp over the next couple of years. How else is Warren going to keep them busy? Yes, inbetween, we'll get the Hattonesque talk of Vitali Klitschko and James Toney for Danny, but talk is all it will be.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:But don't you think Maskaev is a little bit of an anti-climax? Wasn't the conclusion of the Tyson shock win that Danny can perform very well when not expected to win? Why put him in against someone half-decent with Danny starting as a big favourite? For not a huge amount of money?bennie wrote: Well, he shouldn't be messing around with the WBU title for starters. Danny's big in the States right now and the WBU title has zero credibility there. It has zero credibility here, so what is the point! Williams-Maskaev is a good match decimated by the billing. I mean that.
I just don't get it. Unless it's to keep him busy before a really big one, naturally. Then again, if it happens, Danny SHOULD win.
He is popular in the States and I'd like to see him fight for a world title. The winner of Golota-Ruiz in February in London?
i think the reigning champs take Williams only serious as a contender if Williams fights a top ten fighter and wins impressively. fighting Maskaev won´t bring him the big money or a real title fight. it will only be a big risk. he has nothing to win but all to lose. and if Williams would lose he would be the same "nobody" as he was before.

Exactly, Danny beat one has-been fighter. But at the end of the day if they wanted to win, Danny couldn't beat an egg. He should use his new found fame to get as many millions in the bank as he can. Not try to prove himself by facing people that I could beat if I put my mind to it.although fighting older fighters (holly) may not be as advantageous it'll give danny another name on his record and a couple of mil in the bank.
