1983: Sugar Ray Leonard vs Aaron Pryor at welterweight

Hello folks!!!

Of all the great figths of the 80s, this fight was the fight that have me on my mind that I wanted to see the most but never happened because of Sugar Ray's detached retina.

I lived in Cincinnati, OH for 9 years and the majority of the folks there BELIEVE that Leonard ducked Pryor. Their evidences were that one time they sparred as amateurs in Cincinnati and Pryor floored Leonard. I never believed it, but was it true???

The other evidence they got was that Sugar Ray was already MAKING PLANS for a MEGAFIGHT with the great Alexis Arguello as soon Arguello beats Pryor. But since Pryor won the calssic war, Leonard never mentioned a comeback to fight "The Hawk".

I do not believe that Leonard ducked Pryor, and if they would've met, I will give Leonard the nod by late stoppage. What do you guys think of this???

Also a lot of people from Cincinnati say that the greats Roberto Duran and Thomas Hearns also ducked Pryor, who in my opinion, was a terrific crazy all-out punching machine. Do yopu guys believe this also???

..i was in cincinnati and involved in the boxing scene .....and while the pryor fans now try to claim that leaonard ducked him...believe me...this is total nonsense!!! there is no way that pryor would have gotten into the ring with leonard. repeat.....NO WAY!!!

even more absurd is the idea that hearns was kept away from pryor, a howler that is written in pryor's auto biography. when this first came up i wondered if there was another thomas hearns fighting four rounders somewhere...but no.....they meant the REAL THOMAS HEARNS!!!!....avoiding aaron pryor!!

right...and joe louis ducked willie pep....
