Who did Liston KO or KD with his LEFT JAB

Post by IronKidDynamite »

I hear it in virtually every article that Sonny Liston's jab KOd opponents.

Who did he knock out and down with his jab? And please give ones available on tape so I can see them at a later date.

....in his next to last fight he knocked leotis martin down with what was more a jab than a hook. by that i mean it was a long jab with just a slight arc. martin kayoed him later.

Yeah but who else did he knock down with a jab? Was the Martin knockdown a single jab or a combination of punches ending with a jab?

Is it just a myth or is there really much footage of him knocking out or down with left jabs?

I think it was Roy Harris who was floored by jabs

Hate beating a dead horse, but I still want to know who did he knock down, who did he knock out with a jab. I've seen 6 fights of him and found no evidence of this I want to see the ones which he did knock down or out guys with his jab.

All evidence I've found is the typical "reports" from sparring partners and friends, fans and journalists. I don't care about this I want to see if it's true with my own two eyes.

...the leotis martin "jab" was a one punch knockdown. i put jab in quotes because my son insists it was a hook. i say it was a long jab with just a slight arc. whatever, it is a punch i am happy not to have been hit by. the tape of this fight has been shown several times on espnclassic, which undoubtedly means it will she shown several more.

Many fighters have powerful half-hook half-jabs. Even Floyd Patterson who Liston destoryed. In the last Ingemar Johannson fight, the first punch of a three punch knockdown was a powerful JAB. Watch it if you disagree.

I mean a pure jab. And by the way, Larry Holmes, Ray Leonard and Buster Douglas have all knocked down fighters with left jabs.

So who apart from Martin did he knock down with a jab and is on tape? There must be more to justify the constant hype about his jab knockin down people.

Could you run that by me again, wouter? Your post is so cryptic that its meaning escaped me the first 2 times. ;)

Thanks. A few more days of reading and re-reading the thread and I think I may just have a chance to figure it all out. :TU:
