Fights that never were

Still fuming about Haye - Klitschko. 15 of us had tickets, flight and hotel boxed off (shakes head). Struggling to think of a more antipated fight that was signed but never came off. Duran v Ayala springs to mind although am not sure any contracts were exchanged in that one. Can anyone think of any other big fights that never came off?

Herbie Hide v Danny Williams.

By no means, not the world's biggest or most anticipated fight but i recall it was signed and sealed by Jess Harding and ready to go. I remember Herbie had a wam-up fight in preparation for Williams and suffered a real nasty cut - forcing the fight off.

It would have been an interesting fight as there was a lot of needle between the two and Hide was giving out the verbals about Williams at the time (though i appreciate Hide gives out verbals about everyone).

How about James Toney-Terry Norris.

Both were being groomed as the best fighter, p4p, in the world.

There was talk of this fight, Norris was getting big for his boots (and had beaten several guys who became ranked middleweights - castro, steve littles, quincy taylor)...Then Norris got hurt by Troy Waters and when Simon Brown stopped him, that was the end of any talk about fighting middleweights.

Naseem Hamed vs Arnulfo Castillo.

Would have been a cracker, Hamed had just beaten Robinson and was well in his prime, Castillo was a big, undefeated boxer-brawler from Mexico. Would have been Hameds first real test i think, Hamed pulled out twice with injury, fight fell through. Then Hamed fought Said Lawal instead
