Haye To Fight In September?

Post by Poncey »

David Haye could fight one of the Klitschko brothers in September, their manager Bernd Boente has confirmed.

Haye was forced to pull out of his June 20 shot at IBF and WBO king Wladimir after injuring his back in training, with Ruslan Chagaev taking his place.

Boente told Setanta: "Adam Booth and I will get together and talk as soon as possible to try to make it possible to give the fans a huge fight."

Chagaev next for Klitschko

Ruslan Chagaev will replace David Haye on June 20, Wladimir Klitschko's manager Bernd Boente has confirmed.

Chagaev was pulled from his WBA title defence this weekend after a blood test showed signs of hepatitis B, but Boente insists doctors have assured Klitschko he has "zero chance" of being infected.

He told Setanta: "The chances of being infected are as high as going outside and the sky falling on your head."
Can't see him fighting Wlad imo as the purse bids for Povetkin are due that month.

Haye needs to fight in early July then. He can't go into the Wlad fight with nearly a year out of the ring. Hopefully, Haye can squeeze a quick one in. A Danny Williams would be ideal I think.

Whether he is or not the BBBofC would not allow it due to the career of Fury being in its infancy!!

Maybe the Euro title would be a good route for him to go down whilst it looks like a world title shot isn't happening anytime soon.

I think Haye vs Valuev is a great shout. But I think it again comes down to what tv company can pay for it.

It would be a terrible shame but there's a chance now that Haye-Klitschko might never come off. If Wlad engages Chagaev then Haye should fight Valuev and then the winners can collide. Surely Haye is far too inactive to just go straight into a Klitschko bout next after this layoff.

Plus, Sauerland may get involved and kick up a fuss over the fact that Povetkin hasn't got his crack yet. Everything could change over the next few months as we all know it only takes one punch in boxing to derail the best laid plans. :box:

I can't see Wlad giving up the IBF belt to face Haye in September. It's got to be Povetkin next, then if Haye is lucky, the fight could be made for around Christmas time. But Haye needs to fight before then, preferably against Valuev or the fat American pie man.

* I am assuming Wlad beats both Povetkin and Chagaev.

Does Povetkin actually want to fight Wladimir any time soon?

He would probably be better off having a few more top level fights before taking on a Klitschko.

He was due to fight Wlad in December but got injured - to be fair, it did look as if Povetkin wanted Wlad. Wlad has to fulfill his mandatory by September. Povetkin is mandatory, so that should happen. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't happen.

Haye vs Big Klit aint gonna happen. Shame really as Dave beats him imo.

He could get paid well for a for a fight with Valuev. It would be a good good fight as far as dave bouncing shots off of GIANTOR all night!

I thought Haye was mandatory so King couldn't have options on him?

Haye is vulnerable against any heavyweight. barret had him down, lolenga mock had him all over the place. Williams might beat him too.

He will regret pulling out of the Wlad fight.
