Alex Arthur - lol!!!

Post by Dioufy »

It's his first fight since he got beat by Cook, and his first fight at the weight. Now, can anyone tell me who the hell is this - Mohamed Benbiou. It's the chap he's fighting next, and his record is won 15 (KO 7) + lost 14 (KO 6).

He was on the Bunce show a few weeks ago saying that he doesn't need a knock-over job at this stage on his career, and now he's got this dude. I am simply in shock. If I was the 'fish-man' I would get him at top #15 ranked WBO contender.

But knowing the WBO, this Benbiou is probably ranked 3rd or something.

Now wonder boxing is dwindling out.

:shame:

And when did he "dwindle" in? Nice guy, but that world-title fiasco was nonsense. Without doubt, the worst world champion ever. He gets given a belt, then loses it against a chap who moved up in weight and subsequently got beat (KO'ed) in his first defence.

It is better than no one. Why has it taken him so long to get back in the ring?

Moving up a weight is tricky (think of Hatton-Collazo), especially for a man who has been at one weight his whole career and who, reading between the lines, has not shrugged off the Cook defeat as well as he did the Gomez one. Remember his bizarre comments about English judges in the immediate aftermath of the Cook shocker?
It is only natural to give him one or two easy beards to dent as he adjusts to the weight and regains his confidence.

He's been out for a while he's moved up a weight whats wrong with fighting a poor fighter just to get the ring rust off you cant expect him to fight a top 10 LWW its his 1st fight at the weight but ye AAA is pretty poor

If you were a YTS trainee at JJB Sports you'd be hiding in the store room when Alex Arthur came in. There you go Emm.

I am in favour of giving Arthur an easier fight than normal, but come on, this win will do nothing whatsoever for AAA. At least he should be in with a domestic fighter at best. Even an all-Scottish fight with McAllister would suffice. This fight is a joke.

The funniest quote that appeared in the paper was relating to this is the first step towards him becoming a 2 weight world champion by the end of next year. if his previous 3 years are anything to go by he'll be lucky to have had 1 more fight by next year! :D

Alex Arthur should retire, he's achieved everything there is to achieve in boxing, what else is there for him to gain? His legacy will only suffer if he carries on.

His legacy? He's good and he looks a bit like Ken Buchanan but he's not legacy material. Right now, we know him as an excellent ex-European champion.
