We'll know better be the end of the year.
The respective camps get on really well, and can see the mutual advantages of getting this on.
Up to Rhodes to get himself in the right place in the queue and for Jamie to keep doing the business.
Precisely why this EU fight is right for Rhodes if it comes off - and no reason why not, as he's mandatory.
It's not the title Rhodes is after, its the ranking it brings World wise.
Not sure what the plans are for Jamie in the next 6 months.
I honestly believe whilst it has been explained to me clearly why the EU title is right for Ryan Rhodes - with boxing politics etc etc I just think Jamie Moore would have moved on by then!! - and thus manoeuvering Rhodes into a big money shot against Moore is simply not going to happen - unless of course a purse bids situation can be forced.

Frank Maloney & Steve Wood have got Jamie Moore in the right place at last and it seems a defence or 2 more will see Moore in a world title shot against some quality opposition and possibly more money than a fight with Rhodes can generate.

I am sorry Twenty Six - i would love to be wrong on this - but Ryan has made the wrong move at the wrong time just when he could have forced issue with either the EBU or one of the world governing bodies - I hope I am wrong - I really hope that I have got this barking mad wrong.

You have to question who is giving him advice.
Was signing with Hayemaker a wise move when managed by allegedly ?
Maybe the "yes-men" who attach themselves to him have hindered his career.

Hmmm this may not be a good idea ,Rhodes participating in un licensed fighting may result in him losing his professional boxing license.

Hello Beagleboy - have you lost that weight yet? :TU:

With regards your post - it deserves an answer - - I will put to you a general question - do you think its morally correct that managers and promoters who have either fallen out with a particular boxer or have no intention of enhancing their career - should hold onto to their contract for the entire duration?

Whilst I believe there is a fine line in my question as the boxer can abuse what I am saying - surely morally a manager or promoter could let the boxer go and let him earn some money in a very harsh world we live in at present??

I look forward to your reply ;;-)

Spare us the sob story Spud.
Rhodes has left allegedly once before, so why re-sign with him ?
Why sign with Hayemaker when he's managed by allegedly ?

Has he not been badly advised ?

I see the point you are making but yet you are still not answering my point - what is morally correct in this manner - should the co-manager simply release him from his contract ?

That's down to the manager, Spud - but don't forget he has left him once before.
And as for the "hard times" argument, are you forgetting in the last year or so, Rhodes has turned down fights with Bradley Pryce, Anthony Small and didn't want to box on Hayemakers July 4th show.

Would answering my question affect your tea-making duties ? Has Rhodes been badly advised ?

I'll respond to iwz's post.
Rhodes has fought and won the Lonsdale belt twice.
If you want to come on here and describe that as winning paper titles then have your day.
You have made yourself look a total arsehole.

As for the other debate going on - lets get this in perspective.
This thread has been created because Ryan is having a bit of fun in the close season, and fulfilling his duties as South Yorkshire's Sports Personality of the Year.
I really dont understand why Rhodes career is the subject of such close scrutiny comparatively speaking to other fighters.
Anyway just in case there's any furore, we're having a round of golf later in the week, is that ok ?

Why won't you answer the question Spud ?
Have you gone shy all of a sudden ?
Is it a good move when posters affilliated with Rhodes slag off the man who manages him ?

To move slightly off topic, but might ring rust be an issue for Rhodes when he makes his next professional bout? Given his other commitments over the summer, its probably going to be around October when he next fights.

If it's not against a very good name then him pulling out against Small was cowardly, at very best.

Yes Dioufy your right..........................

Challenging Otis Grant when barely out of nappies
Going in against Jason Matthews (a huge puncher and a weight above)
Ditto Gary Lockett

Not facing Small (who is shit) because of a cold

Ryan Rhodes is a coward!!

Dear me you couldn't make up some of the shite spouted on here

Which you duly received. However, you seem very reluctant to answer a simple question.
Are you afraid that an honest answer will jeopardise your privileges with your latest promoter ?
If so, feel free to pm in confidence.

I wouldn't call Rhodes a coward having seen his recent fight with Vuma - who was a real threat and a big puncher - that would be unfair. He's been in with good fighters and obviously as a youngster he was fearless.

For me Vuma is more of a threat than Small ever will be.

That said, this wrestling sideline is a bad move, he's been ill advised in my opinion. The next 12 months of his boxing career are arguably the most important as it's last chance saloon time.

Btw, out of interest who the hell else was up for South Yorkshire sports personality of the year?! Junior Witter and Geoff Boycott :TU:

Junior was there but didn't make the final seven.
James Toseland, Lee Westwood, James Beattie (then with SUFC), Brian Laws, Paul Goodison (Olympic gold, sailing), Sarah Stevenson (Olympic medallise Taikwando), plus Rhodes.
How many more times, its not a sideline, just a bit of fun.
As for Dioufy - I can't believe the shit some people post.
That said, if he's a fan of El Hadj Diouf, the very epitomy of everything cowardly, then that says it all.
Open invite to come to Sheffield mate, and tell him to his face.

Both Rhodes and Moore are rated inthe top 10 by various ruling bodies, the problem being they are rated between 5 and 10, this makes the next move a differcult one.
either wait around to try and get nominated for a eliminator, which could mean sitting around whilst boxing politics are played out, and at their ages its not a good idea to be waiting around.
Or trying to tempt one of the title holders into making a voluntary defense against one of them, this then comes down to how much clout the promoter of the boxer has. by clout i mean money!

As any title holder would see either Rhodes or Moore as a risky defense, and the champion would want paying good money.

The other thing is a fight between the 2 of them, this is the most attrative for us boxing fans, and may get eliminator from a ruling body.

I live in hope this fight happens :witzend:

Oh and although i've been critical of Rhodes not taking on Small, and the delay in him boxing this year in a meaningful fight, at no point do i think he's a coward!.
