You can get most of his defences on video - he truly was a bone breaking puncher. Get hold of a tape of his early round blowouts of Ranzany, Backus, Clarke, Grey.
Some of these poor guys ended up looking like they'd been 15 rounds with Joe Frazier, after just 6 minutes.
A broken nose was to be expected if you got in the ring with Cuevas, unless you were Tommy Hearns, that is.

I'm sure it's the Backus fight: Cuevas nails him in the first 20 seconds with a punch that would have levelled most other fighters. Billy stays on his feet, somehow, and absorbs a murderous barrage that last till the end of round one.
Cuevas lands one KO bomb after another: Backus' face is a mess and his eye is massively swolen.
The referee must've been a relative of Genghis Khan I think. It's a pretty sickening beating the guy takes, and a merciful doctor pulls him out before the start of round 2.

Cuevas-Backus is one of the most gruesome short fights you will ever see. Backus' face looked like he had just shaved with a lawn mower, and that's only after two minutes of fighting!

Yeah, Cuevas smashed his eye socket. I have the Boxing Illustrated report of the fight.
