Aye, popular man, Gordon Brown could use him to shore up the cabinet.
He's not THAT popular. Mind you, he'd do a better job with the economy than Dahling!

Really?

They must have endless Blackadder fun with him though.

"Have you done those figures yet Darling."

Not to mention Brown's right hand man, Ed Balls. I mean come on, you're making it up.

only nice men deserve world title shots like Munroe & Moore,
not boxers like david haye,

the way he went about acting like a crazy man, to get the best fighter on the planet to fight him.
then pull out of the fight, when he woke up and relised that he will get busted up on fight night.

Right, so I guess Roberto Duran should never have had a title shot then, or James Toney?

i agree with you that ajose is talented but he hasnt beat anyone of note for his lofty WBC ranking. Its not entirely his fault i know but he doesnt deserve a world title shot right now

Moore, Moore and Moore again.......

Deserves it more - or Moore - than anyone

Only other choices would be Mick Jennings again (he deserves it) and Rhodes. I think Cleverly and Barker should get one within 6-12 months as well.

Sounds good to me. Best of luck to him. Will you let us know of the details closer to the fight? In particular, if it's on TV.

Did what exactly?? Mitchell did well to beat Johannsen. But lets be honest Johannsen is a limited fighter who has failed massively when he has fought above British title level. And lets not forget the win for Mitchell was an extremely tough and hard one in a pretty evenly contested fight.

Jesus talk about levels... Mitchell hasnt even defended the British title yet. How the heck does winning the British title equate to a world title eliminator??
J wrote: If cook can be champ no reason Mitchell cant.
To be fair, Cook was a former European Featherweight champion - which is a far higher achievemnent than Mitchell has managed in his career to date. Even so, regardless of the merits (or lack of merits) of Cook as a 'world' champion, Mitchell has simply done nothing to deserve a world title shot.
J wrote: If he kept beating up guys like burns most onhere woudl complain he wasnt being stepped up.
But thats the point, he hasnt beaten Burns!! Nor has Mitchell beaten the likes of Burns! This sort of sh1t is killing the game, seriously.

I see your point but its all about levels, beating Ricky Burns would not make Mitchell any more worthy of fighting for a world title than what he is now. Burns has won the Commonwealth which Mitchell held but gave up. Anyway my opinion is that Mitchell would be to tough for Burns, think Mitchell would match Burns for speed but would have more power and more arsenal of shots. Taking nothing away from Burns but at this stage of their careers I feel Mitchell would have that bit more grit in him.

But wouldnt it be nice for a change to actually see what would happen in such a fight, as opposed to just speculating on what might or might not happen?? Fighters shouldnt be bypassing the domestic level, it should be the gateway to bigger and better things - an absolute requirement.

A fighter has to show they are levels above, not just simply talk about it! Talk means fuk all. The fact Mitchell gets a world title shot before Burns says little about Mitchell's ability or that he is 'levels above Burns'. Instead it simply tells you more about his promoter's relationship with a second-rate shitty boxing organisation.

In beating Ricky Burns, Mitchell could at the very least, credibly claim (having backed it up) to be the best super-featherweight in Britian - if nothing else, would this not help him grow as a fighter and give him greater confidence?

but he already did that when he beat Johannsen who was the best at the time in Britain or have you forgotten that Carl shut Burns out I mean completely....

I know what you are saying but fact is Mitchell is moving on from Brit level wheras burns will never move on from brit level.

Well, the interim one. He has to fight Ramirez to get the proper title.
