Yeah i've seen this before, this was still a PEAK TYSON sparring before the 1988 Tony Tubbs Fight
All that Crap that McCall spoke about Tyson never Hurting him during sparring haha
Tyson would have been the only man to have stopped McCall for sure back than.

McCall has got an amazing chin, but Tyson would have stopped him with body shots by the looks of it.

I've seen the footage before. Imagine what taking a shot to the body from a guy like Tyson must have been like. Damn!
You can see Tyson was a fast, sharp & powerful puncher! McCall had a very good chin & still does, but those body shots were different class! When McCall complains (about being hit on the hip bone I think) you hear Mike ask "what did I do?".
I think Tyson knew what he did! I'm not saying he delibrately targeted the hip bone, but he went after the body, no doubt about it!
Back then, Tyson was a brilliant body puncher & he knew the importance of a sustained body attack!

That is the Tyson who would man handle Lewis and Holyfield, not the one post prison though.
Re: Interesting video of tyson sparring oliver mccall
is this Tyson before Douglas or Tyson before Tubbs?
Re: Interesting video of tyson sparring oliver mccall
Before Tubbs as you can see Kevin Rooney there

Its the fight before tubbs. There's a japanese film crew there. And Rooney is there.
anyone else surprised by how fast McCall looks there? I do wonder whether the display of pain is for the camera crew.

yeah, McCall looks leaner too. I don't think he was acting up, just a bit annoyed that Tyson kept hitting him low

Was it because it was repeated low blows or was it because he got hit in the hip bone? I think its the latter!streak wrote:yeah, McCall looks leaner too. I don't think he was acting up, just a bit annoyed that Tyson kept hitting him low
Damn that must have hurt! McCall was one tough cookie!
