I am not renewing my SKY subs

Because the fights that Hatton and Calzaghe have are so shit.

I know I will miss out on the good American shows and the good matches put on by Barry Hearn, but I am sick and tired of paying £40 per month to watch Hatton and Calzaghe fight second tier fighters at best.

I've been following boxing since 1978 and have boxed.

I will just have to order the US shows from a tape supplier.

Ive had enough.

It bugs me Sky Sports insist on every main event they screen being for a Mickey Mouse title (Williams-Tyson apart, and Sky weren't calling the shots).
When Alex Arthur came back from his mauling at the hands of Michael Gomez, for example, he came back - not in an eight-rounder as he should - but in a 12-rounder for an Intercontinental title. The whole thing was a farce. It's the same with Williams-Maskaev! It should be a 10-rounder.

I dont blame you, if boxing is the only reason you buy sky I would have diotched it years ago, however being a rugby and cricket nut it still has its appeal for me even with the dissapointing fare of late. Also as you rightly point out the US match ups, some decent domestuic stuff also, and the ppv nights which always turn into carnage round mine, Im afraid they still have me by the short and curlies!

After looking so bright not too long ago things have really taken a downward turn with regards to televised boxing in Britain. BBC have all but bailed out and seem to spend half their time taking the piss out of the sport anyway. Sky are showing less regular American action now, charging PPV for fights that they never would before and taking the traditional Saturday Fight Night off the air.

Add to that the demise of the excellent ESPN broadcasts shown every week on CH5 and I think it's fair to say things have gone tits up overall.

Yup, been thinking the same myself of late.

I've hardly watched Sky Sports in months, probably doesn't help that we haven't been getting weekly fights either involving our domestic level fighters. Euro 2004, the Olympics and Wimbledon are all on the BBC.

Yeah great the US Open is live but realistically how often do I stay up watching matches on a week night until 4am? I'm not really into golf and definitely not into speedway, windsurfing and all the other bollox they pad out most of their daily schedule with.

I don't even sit down to watch many full live Premiership matches these days, only involving my own team Spurs and is that really worth £40 per month?

I'm basically paying £40 odd per month to watch Spurs play once every six weeks or so and the odd episode of Black Adder on UK Gold.

Exactly, apart from Boxing all I watch is The Sweeney on Crime plus.

Christ, I can buy every episode of the Sweeney on DVD for £100.

SHUT IT!

My contract ends in November, I'm not renewing it.

My sky contract finnishes in September.I am finnishing it then.I am bored of mismatches, and not getting the best American fights ( frietas-corrales the most recent example).When we do get big fights we have to pay extra for it.What a joke!

Also, I am bored of boxing now.That is something that I thought I would never say.

Well if you dont watch sky ditch the movie channels then

Sky Sports channels are either £31 or £33 a month .. not £40

The movie channels are worse, they consistently show the same movies over and over again... Watch alot of movies in a week and you have little to watch on those channels for the rest of the month or two

If I only used Sky for the boxing I'd have probably cancelled my subscription by now. But I love all kinds of sports and watch virtually every live football match on Sky, plus a lot of other sports like pool, snooker, cricket, golf and of course the great sky sports news.
