Rogan Vs Sexton II
Rogan and Sexton set for re-match
Martin Rogan looks set for a re-match with Commonwealth heavyweight champion Sam Sexton in Belfast in September.
Sexton clinched the Commonwealth belt by beating Rogan last month after a doctor ruled that the Belfast man was unfit to continue in the eighth round.
Rogan had Sexton in trouble on several occasions prior to the stoppage.
The Belfast fighter's trainer John Breen says contracts have been drawn up for a fight and that a bout is on the cards for the Odyssey Arena.
BBC Sport understands that mooted dates are Friday 11 September and Saturday 19 September.
In the May bout, Rogan, 38, had the 25-year-old Sexton out on his feet in round eight but hesitated to go in for the kill.
Sexton had a further opportunity to recover when he lost his gumshield and as soon as the fight restarted the doctor ruled that Rogan, whose left eye had almost completely closed, was unfit to continue.
After suffering his first defeat in 13 professional fights, Rogan was highly critical of referee Dave Parris' performance.
Rogan won the Commonwealth belt with a thrilling 11th-round stoppage of Matt Skelton in February.

Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
Great news Rogan will win this one he now knows he has the power to hurt Sexton and Sexton also knows that and it was obvious Sexton really didnt want a rematch so that gives Rogan the pshcoligical advantage I think a 4th round KO for Rogan this time

Gonna be a busy month with Haye and Froch fighting.
Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
Makes total sense. Had to happen, really.
Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
Only right that this is going ahead , it would have been an insult to the fans if it didnt
Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
Yep, excellent news. I'm sure it'll have some drama again.
Congratulations, Sligo.

Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
This fight re-match is needed I agree - just to shut the critics up and settle it, again, as I said first time around, Sexton will win, Rogan caught him yes, as he was running on last hopes due to his eye. Basically things are gonna be set up for Sexton to loose, theres not realy ranking benefit for Sexton in this one, and even if he does do a sweet number on Rogan, people will still be jabbering on about the contraversy of their first fight.
The fact that they are planning of staging it in Belfast again, I think is an injustice to Sexton. The Belfast fans were spitting on Sexton pre-fight and throwing things at him as he walked past them. Plus Sextons been to the lions den and came out, all be it having gone through the toughest fight in his career, he boxed great and all boxers get caught - he still won.
This should be held in London as Sexton is the champ now so it will be a more mutual stage, that will also bring the big city fans out, the transport from Belfast to London is excellent and more affordable for Sexton's horde of Norwich fans.
But then I guess THE ALLEGEDLY FW is just thinking 'cash cash' rather then about Sextons fans, chances and future, it's clear he doesn't really give a damn about either of these 2 fighters and would rather be bed buddies with Del Boy and Amir.
BRING IT ON, IN LONDON! Sexton stops him again!

Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
I can't pick this one. In the first fight, I went for Rogan to come from behind and win, which he nearly did, but now we have seen just how much Sexton can hurt Rogan. I think I have to go for a Rogan win after what happened just before it got stopped. Rogan seems to be able to fight on when hurt, but Sexton can't. Surely Rogan will catch up to Sexton and knock him out, but Sexton was out-boxing him and had him hurt. It's a tough fight to predict.
And can anyone say with 100% accuracy how Rogan's injury occured? To me, I would say a head-clash.

Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
Ed Simons said in the post-fight presser that if the rematch was in Belfast then they would need to find a bigger arena than the Odyssey to meet demand
Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
glad this is happening.Rogan deserves to have the opportiunity to reclaim his title although im also of the opinion that sexton will win again.
cracking atmosphere they have in ireland and obviously it makes financial sense i just hope the winner doesnt have to fight danny williams

Great fight. Had to happen.
Sexton stops Rogan in the mid rounds. He had him hurt on a few occasions last time but didn't go in for the kill. I think he will this time and is by far the superior boxer (although Rogan does have tremendous heart).
Should have been in Norwich though

Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
rogan gonna win by ko inside two
Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
In a perfect world, it being in England is the next logical step. But it won't sell out like it would in the arena in Belfast.
Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
I think Rogan will stop him in 6.

Re: Rogan Vs Sexton II
Rogan now knows he has the power to hurt Sexton so he will fancy his chances and Sexton also knows Rogan can hurt him so he will be wary off his punches so I think he'll be negative and get stopped around the 5th

Hope its in Belfast the atmosphere was amazing i really fancy Rogan for this one he knows he's got the power to hurt Sexton so will go for it and Sexton also knows Rogan has the power to hurt him so might be negative imo
