:TU: Its not like he tried to make weight and couldn't shift it. He just came too late to be allowed to try to shift it. IMO Murray not making weight will have no effect on the outcome of this fight. But a shame he'll be stripped of the beautiful lonsdale.

I have got to say with Kerry Kayes on board I am very surprised indeed with this news - Kerry is a top man and knows his stuff which is why - when I got the news early on I thought b*llocks no way!!!

What I simply cannot fathom out is the lateness to the "weigh in" as if games were being played - or is it simply that John was more than what he should have been on the day and thus a late work out was required and there was a difference in the "calibrated" scales!!!

Personally - we can all have an opinion on this and I think possibly 2 things - John has eaten something or more that he shouldn't have done - or the games by getting late to the weigh in on purpose has back fired big time.

With regards to the stick Joe Gallagher is taking - unfortunately he is going to have to take it on the chin - I can bet "Meaty Mick" is furious with this especially with what has been said by Team Murray in the media and in addition Joe has upset the applecart a tadge with a few people and now he will take some stick - its how he takes it and learns from it - we will then be able to judge whether his time near the top of the domestic trainers has come to a rapid end.

Whatever the case - whatever the opinion - this is severely embarassing when you take into consideration the stuff that has been written in the media - and I am sorry to even hint at "inactivity" in todays article on boxingnews online or something like that is for me total and utter b*llocks - this comes down to Team Murray - its their fault and only their fault and they must learn from it.

I hope in 2morrow nights interviews they are humble and admit their faults rather than offering silly excuses.

Not when it breaches forum rules.
I agree Emerson. Trolling is a breach. Anyway, I'm off to a school reunion in my old hometown of Loughborough today (about 80 miles from where I live now). It is a 30-year reunion (we all left in 1979) and a long weekend job.
By the time I get back on Monday this will all be a beautiful blur.

Not great for someone who is constantly telling us how thorough he is that he couldn't get the traffic or the thickness of the carpet right!

Looks like Tony Jeffries made the right call. I haven't seen any improvement in John Murray in a long time and it's a shame coz he has talent but at the moment it's hard to see him going much further
that is complete rubbish - murray was punch perfect v meager and you saw no improvement.

laughable.

it does seem to be one thing or another with Murray. I believe if he was able to just be active, there wouldn't necessarily be problems. Let's just see how he deals with it. Fewkey couldn't deal with it. Let's see if Murray looks great, or if he looks bad.

Meager was shot to pieces and made Murray look a million dollars.

People keep bleating on about inactivity, after Murray's fight tonight he'll have fought 7 times in just over 2 years (8 if you include his KO defeat to a doorman before Christmas). How is that being inactive?

Murray and Gallaher need to learn that professional boxing is exactly that, a profession, I was in Vegas for the Hatton fight last month and Murray certainly didn't look to be too worried on missing out on the party scene because he had a fight coming up and Gallaher wasn't exactly leading by example.

meager was NOT shot to pieces, and had looked relatively fresh a couple of fights previous. meager had a hard career, but he was not shot. meager didn't MAKE murray look good. murray was good, and he chopped him up in a classy performance. beforehand, murray-meager was a "50-50 fight".

michael gomez is what a sensible person would call a shot fighter.

if meager was feeling the effects of a hard career, and had the right style for murray...then a big, fresh, fast mcasslister was all wrong, and murray ground him down pretty well.

your comments are totally OTT, borderline outrageous: murray was not KO'd by a doorman - why these silly Internet rumours, incl the mythical Macklin assault charge also? seriously, who is it that makes these things up? look, why not just wait for the fight. murray is either going to look good or crap, and he'll either win or lose. if he wins, he'll be fighting thaxton for vacant title; if he loses or looks awful, will his next fight even be a main event?

This won't make a difference!! Murray will wallk right through Lawton!!

He's got the best nutritionist on board in Kerry Kayes and anything his body has lost Kerry will make sure it's restored!!

Murray is gonna stop Lawton in about 6 to 8 with good body shots!! I really rate Murray the kids a top fighter!! :TU:

I have a double bet on Murray rounds 4-6 and Cotto on points - ladbrokes 17/2. decent bet I think. little hedge on Murray 1-3 and Cotto points at 18/1.

Either way I think Murray wins in the first half of the fight, one way traffic.

What happens if Lawton wins? Does he get the title, or does he have to fight someone else for it?
