PABA rules

Post by gerry »

was just browsing the paba website and read it would have half point scoring rounds and a distance of 11 rounds to avoid draws
what are peoples thoughts
should we just use a greater scale with the ten must system or make all fights odd number of rounds

The silliest initiative I've ever come across.
64% of its fights don't last the distance & they may as well score rounds on 20 points
10/9.5 = 20/19 and is so much easier for the poor bloke that adds the scores

I don't think change is needed over 12 rounds. There are enough rounds there that a Draw is fairly rare. I think it could be good to change 4 round fights to 5 rounds as there are far more draws over 4 than over 12.

spot on ben!! :TU: the only thing i would add is that there is no such thing as a drawn round. ben, i would call on your opinion here, but i would think that there is something in a round that seperates the boxers.

Yeh i agree Unleash.

I have been taught to try not to give even rounds. All the judges that helped me learn the ropes have said the same thing.
I would be hesitant to give one when officiating. I think most officials are encouraged not to score even rounds.

If all else is even I think the guy making the fight, Whether from the front foot or back foot should get the round. Thats just my opinion.
