Re: Betting thread
you may be right i just think that people are overestimating the impact of clottey's size in this fight, cotto can be hurt blah blah. clottey won't go away but Miguel won't just fall apart either. Clottey doesnt apply the same type of pressure as a Margarito and doesn't hit as hard. Cotto will have to guts it out true, but he is well capable of doing that after years of fighting the best.

I have to disagree, I think its an A+ fighter against a very tough, durable level B opponent.lirva wrote:Clottey is no mug. Cotto will have some problems. Clottey stood up to Margaritos bricks, Cotto didn't. I fancy Cotto to win on points actually, but this is a 50:50 because Clottey has the type of style to give Cotto BIG problems. His SPEED is going to be a factor. Plus, he will hurt Cotto if he lands cleanly. Also, I like the way he throws in combinations and keeps the crab defense at all times. There really is a lot to like about Clottey in this fight due to the styles.Riddick Blowe wrote:goooo cotto points

You've done the hard work have yourself a small saver on a Clottey stoppage win, he isn't winning this via the cards.Riddick Blowe wrote:What you got this weekend boyz?
I have a double bet on Murray rounds 4-6 and Cotto on points - ladbrokes 17/2. decent bet I think. little hedge on Murray 1-3 and Cotto points at 18/1.

yeh i went for clottey 10-12; i think that will suffice. if he does stop cotto it will be in the championship rounds and an accumulation type stoppage, really can't see anything else. Clottey is no one-punch machine and Cotto has a good enough chin to last late even if clottey is on fire, imo.

I won on a Cotto decision as well. Didn't bet on the Murray fight.

Maidana is 4/1 to beat Victor Ortiz wit Bet365
Now I havent seen Maidana but I understand he was a little unlucky to lose to Kotelnik so he might be decent value against Ortiz who doesnt look all that for me
The under 9.5 is at 10/3 for Foreman v Bundrage. Logic says Foreman boxes his head off but Bundrage isnt the sturdiest dude so he might fall before then. He might also catch Foreman

I'd comfortably back Ortiz to beat Kotelnik, Khan or Maidana. But saying that, if you think Maidana has greater than a 20% of winning then it's a good bet.lefthook82 wrote:Maidana is 4/1 to beat Victor Ortiz wit Bet365

What do you guys reckon for the Kretchman v Baktov fight
A lot of bets on offer for that fight and considering its a 12 fight novice I think there is action to be had on the under, round betting, etc

baktov was 80-1 to win in the first and I was going to cover him in the first 3 at£5 a pop
I was also going to put £500 on the under, but silly me I think the MJ news got my brain scrambled as I thought it was tomorrow

Re: Betting thread
Ortiz has a bad chin and it has been documented that he has been dropped as an amateur, in sparring, and in one of his pro fights, so Maidana has a punchers chance, although I expect Ortiz to win.Asterix wrote:I'd comfortably back Ortiz to beat Kotelnik, Khan or Maidana. If only I had put some cashmoney on Maidana. For a puncher those odds ere too long
I put £500 on the under and therefore won £416. Going to buy a laptop before I change my mind an reinvest

Re: Betting thread
Ali Cheebah v Fidel Munoz
Fidel is another Columbian 'puncher' but his record sucks
Ali Cheebah from what I can gather is a decent punching speedy fighter who throws a lot of shots. He has a nice uppercut
I havent seen one nano second of this Munoz dude but he does have a 19-0 record with 14 stoppages.
The under 7.5 is 4/6 and I thinking of putting one hundred on it

Unlucky about the Ortiz fight. Sorry if I swayed your decision. It sounds like Ortiz doesn't have the heart/desire to reach the top. But well done with your bet anyway.lefthook82 wrote:If only I had put some cashmoney on Maidana. For a puncher those odds ere too long

Dont apologise. With betting I rarely bet on one fighter and if I do it would be a neaky £20 here orr there. I'm all about the under

wow, just found out about the Kretschmann result. Really didn't see that one coming. I thought Kretschmann was the real deal. Anyone see this one??
Re: Betting thread
Temple shots took his legs away and he virtually collapsed to the floor, incredibly got up but ref made a good call considering he was the home fighter and called it off.Riddick Blowe wrote:wow, just found out about the Kretschmann result. Looked ok for 30 seconds but then took a temple shot which steadied him and then one shortly after dropped him.
Lots of people liked him but I spoke to a guy on the day of the fight and he said that Kretschmann would be found out due to his inability to take a shot, he later confessed he did not expect it to be Bakhtov but apparently it was common knowledge in Europe that he had a problem in that department.
Wish I had known early enough good money would have been made.
Still not to worry, managed to get 4/1 Maidana against Ortiz so not a bad weekend

Re: Betting thread
damn, just saw it. I too am gutted I didn't have some insider info from a grizzled veteran European poster like Dutch Windmill about Kretschmann's chin because I knew Bahktov is the type of solid 'gatekeeper to fringe world level' type fighter who can find out these guys...I just thought Kretschmann would use his advantages and his offensive skills and keep Bahktov off him...
I was wondering why Kretschmann wasn't getting more hype.. now I know.
Once more, back to the drawing board for heavyweight prospects.![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

GET YA MONEY ON RODDICK TO BEAT MURRAY AT 11/4
THE SCOTS GONNA BOTTLE IT I RECKON

Re: Betting thread
I did an accumulator on some of the tennis matches and left the Murray vs Roddick match off..... Murray was way too short, and Roddick, even though the odds were tempting, has had some hard matches - especially the Hewitt one.
Might put a sneaky £5 on that though, pays for my crate of San Miguel if he wins!!
Anyone fancy Felix Sturm to get beat in his next fight? Bet365 are usually the home of boxing betting aren't they?
I generally use Betfair for everything else, unless www.oddschecker.com throws up a generous market.

@riddick
I'm still crying inside about the Kretchman fight. The under 7.5 was 11/8 and Bhaktov was 80-1 to win in each of the 1st 3 rounds. I made some of the money back on the Ortiz under but damn those odds were once a year type
@martin
The under is when you bet on how long a fight will last. You usually have under 7.5/8.5/9.5 and 10.5
Take one of these for example purposes: 7.5 rounds. If a fight ends anytime before 1 minute and 30 of the 8th round you win your money
These sort of bets are best when you have a hard punching, aggressive shaky chinned kill or be killed fighter
