yeah, it got a lot of coverage. They showed the whole fight again (not that it was that long) after being bombarded with emails, it was at the top of the Olympic news, amd they ended a couple of the athletics shows with images of Khan winning.
anyone know how many tuned in for Audley's final back in 2000?

The thing is, Khan will only get those figures as an amateur at the olympics, people tune in to watch the olympics the same as they do the world cup, European footie etc.
It attracts people to boxing and rowing and the like who normally wouldn't watch it at all.
As an amateur Khan will be invisible until the next olympics. As a professional on the BBC he would be HUGE, provided they didn't make the same mistakes they made with Audley.

Not sure how many set their alarm clocks for 5am that morning but Khan should blitz that figure if he makes it to Sundays final.adamiw wrote:anyone know how many tuned in for Audley's final back in 2000?
EVERYONE is talking about Khan at work today! When I started to cover the wall with press clippings a couple of weeks ago nobody could give a shit. Ah how satisfying...
Jimmy Mac is dead right, despite his win though Steve Ryder tried his best to detract our attention away. After a brief standard appraisal of Khan, he quickly moved over "If you are looking for excitement the Athletics is on later....", yeah nice on prick
It suddenly occurred to me that i have never seen Audley's Olympics win...i can't even remember who he beat
