kinell you must have like da pie and a pint mate, sorry dont mean to be rude but ....i reckon im about a stone or so hefty at present at 13.7 im just under six foot so nothing a bit more excercise and a bit less drinking cant sort out.
having said that ive gone up a bra cup size lately
No bullshit, i can send you some before and after photo's if you like on e mail, i am 5'8 and was a porker at around 15 1/2 stones so i exercised frantically and ate a load less and now i am just under 12 stone, it's taken around 14 months so far....10 stone for my height is a much healthier weight i think.
10 is too low, 11 stone is about right for 5'8!! I am about 5'9 and 12 and a half stone but not much fat. Could prob get to 12 quite easily.

Eat Tuna, Chicken, Turkey, Fish, Lean beef, lots of steamed vegetables and drink plenty of fluids, and go to the gym and lift weights, unless you are a really severe ectomorph you will put on weight.

http://bodybuildingpro.com/bodytype.html

Gaining Muscle for the Hard Gainer!

In order to gain muscle, especially for those ectomorphs interested in taking up the sport of bodybuilding, the following should be observed:

(1) Work hard in the gym, with heavy weights and intense effort. Be consistent in your training, and ensure proper form in all of your weight training movements. Incorporate the basic compound movements, bench press, squat, and deadlift, into your routines. These exercises are very demanding but result in the greatest overall gains. Do to the extra amount of growth hormone released during these movements you will gain muscle in more than just the muscle groups focused on. Also include basic movements such as standing barbell curls (for biceps), and military press (for shoulders).

(2) Eat a sufficient amount of protein (1 to 1.5 grams per pound of body weight) to fill the demand for amino acids created by the training.

(3) Try to eat six small meals per day, one every two to three hours throughout the day. Try to keep calories directly from fat between 15 - 25 percent of this intake. If you go much over this amount, much of the weight you gain may be fat.

(4) Increasing overall caloric intake to a sufficient degree to support the demands of intense exercise, but not so much as to create an unwanted gain in body fat.

(5) Drink plenty of water. Water is one of many misunderstood necessities of muscle growth. Try to drink between three to four liters (1 gallon) per day. Be sure to bring a water bottle to the gym as well, as your body loses a lot more water during periods of intense exercise, and it is essential to replenish these stores.

(6) Keeping your aerobic training to a healthy minimum, no more than 30 minutes a day, 4 to 5 days a week. I would personally recommend even less for those of you trying to get past the stage of being skinny. I agree that your heart will thank you for any aerobic activity performed, but remember not to overdo it to the point that you are letting it hinder your muscle gains.

For the beginner, I would recommend the supplement regiment of creatine and glutamine, as well, to gain weight, you may benefit from supplementing with a weight gain powder. These high calorie shakes will allow you to consume far more calories without the discomfort of getting full too easily. A protein powder will benefit you as well, especially if you find it difficult or inconvenient to get the required amount of protein from your daily diet.

Related Supplements:

Weight Gain Powders
Creatine
Protein Powder

If you follow the simple rules above, you should find yourself gaining size and strength at a very good pace. If you are a beginner, a quick weight gain of 10 to 15 pounds in 12 weeks, or even as little as a month would be very possible. Remember, the amount of muscle mass and strength you gain from any workout program is based on your efforts in the gym, and with your diet. As the old saying goes, “You get out of it, only what you put into it”.

Best regards, and good luck with your training!
:TU: (Thanks J-C also) Cheers for the very comprehensive advice. I'm not in any sort of training - I'm just underweight for my height ( I find it veyr hard to put weight on) and want to be minimum 1 stone heavier. Are weights and the gym the only way then? :(

What about a rowing machine and cycling?

The rowing machine and cycling will not really help you put on weight, in fact if you have the kind of body shape you are describing they will have the opposite effect. If you don't like weight training then you could try circuit training instead (which consists of press ups, sit ups ect) combined with a good diet could help you put on weight, it also has the added advantage over weight training of being better for your joints.

I was 15st three years ago, now walk around at 11 1/2 ( a bit less if I am keeping to my running schedule.

Guess, I would have to come in at Middle and would love to have got in the ring with Bomber just to see if I could have hit him with a bag of rice

I think I'd have to slim down by over a stone to become a crusier. And would be relatively heavy one at that. I think if I had the dedication to lose that, I'd fight David Haye....... just coz it'd be a right royal bust up.

I'm 5'10" and i weigh just under 12 stone, but i reckon if i did some serious training i could get down to welter or at worst light-middle.

If i turned pro tomorrow, i'd get battered by everyone. If, by some sort of fluke, i managed to get to a high enough level i'd fight Judah. If i could land something i'd have a decent chance of causing an upset and retiring undefeated, but if he hits me...........well, at least it would have been a decent pay-day.

As for those posters who are commenting on my missus optical abilities, its not her fault I wont shell out for contacts for her and she has to wear those thick rimmed NHS jobs.

I never worked out when she looked up at the sun it diddnt burn her eyes out (a la magnifying glass.)

this is a joke by the way she is f*cking lovely. Tho I havent worked out why she charges me 40 quid every time I shag her and leaves straight after? (Just messing - its only 20)

Ronseal as I affectionately call her "does what it says on the tin"....usually followed by a swift kick in the bollox!

I've just given up smoking, so I reckon I'll be ok. I'll have to try a game of squash one day though and the pads would be a laugh, perhaps when we're both bugled up and we can end up smashing eachother in the gob then having a heart attack.

Congratulations Dave on the sprog, another wee pedant in the world  :TU:

Yes, playfights between grown men are a very bad idea, even if it is dressed up as sparring. It always ends up with a gradual esclation in force from both parties, culminating in someone getting in a really good dig, a bit of claret or excessive pain, and suddenly it deteriorates into two mates smacking the shite out of one another and ugly threats of retribution from the losing party who steams off into the night with a big fat lip and a massive huff on.

I used to live with a mate of mine from Donnie who was a real alpha male type who liked hitting people smaller than him, and we always ended up having scrapes because I had to reinforce the idea that I wasn't a beta male to him. I ended up getting my thumb broken when my friend tried to escape from me leaning on his throat with my knee, whilst smashing his head on the floor when we were pissed, and my thumb knuckle joint now swells up in damp weather - great.

haha similar story, went to the cricket with my bro, much piss consumed, silly arm wrestle in a pub in which he stands up uses the whole force of his body and nearly rips my friggin arm out of its socket. (Being six years older than me he still viewed me as little bro and should be dominated at every opportunity) I call him a wanker he digs me in the mouth, I ask him not to that again, he digs me in the mouth, cue me losing my rag ands putting him in hospital with 9 stitches to his head. Shameful really but he shouldnt have hit me once let alone twice. Think anything of an overtly competetive nature should be avoided when pissed, x box is about the limit!

Big brothers huh, needless to say that is the only incident since we have to come to blows.

What are the big famous dancehall tunes?

I heard the Nigel Benn entrance music and saw the thread about it a few months back which is why I'm asking.

Also, what are the equivalent dancehall sounds of today?

Too numerous to mention mate, really. Go look at some of the best of dancehall and reggae compilations in HMV, they have a pretty good cross section.

At the moment, I'm 5'8 and 188lbs, so I'd like to fight Tyson.

If I trained properly I reckon I'd be a light middle, (I was a welter when I last fought, but that was years ago)so I'd like to fight Moseley and batter his pumpkin head.
