Wot's a TD?
Wot's a TD?
I assume a TD is a Technical Decision. But what exactly does that mean? How does it differ from a TKO? Help would be appreciated.

My understanding is that unless a certain number of rounds have been fought, a fight stopped because of an injury not due to a punch will be called a TD. If the predetermined number of rounds have been fought, the scores will be counted and the winner will be determined.
For example:
Gainer vs. Seda: A cut occurred from an accidental headbutt in the first or second round (I can't remember), so the fight was a TD.
Holyfield vs. Rahman: A large tumor developed on Rahman's head that resulted from one of Holyfield's several hundred headbutts. It was determined that Rahman couldn't continue, so the scores were added.
And I think TD stands for "technical draw."

TD = Technical Draw – A technical decision
TW = Technical Win – A technical decision
A technical decision occurs when a boxer is cut due to accidental head clash.
If the bout is stopped before X amount of rounds have been completed (depending on the rule, which differ) the bout is declared a Technical Draw = Technical Decision
If the bout is stopped in later rounds over the same cut, or an accidental cut occurs after X rounds and the fight is stopped it goes to score cards. Boxer ahead on points is awarded Technical Win = Technical Decision.
If they are even it's a Technical Draw = Technical Decision
TKO (Technical Knockout) =
Referee stops the contest when a boxer is outclassed
The fight is stopped on cut due to legal punch
Chief second throws in the towel
Boxer withdraws during rest period (awarded to the next scheduled round)
Boxer cannot continue due to injury that was not directly attributable to legal punches e.g broken hand, sprained ankle.
