HOW DOES A GB BOXER QUALIFY FOR OLYMPICS?

Team GB consists of one boxer in this year's Olympics and the reams of text showering the superb Amir Khan are putting parlous state of the amateur game firmly in the background at the moment.

However, just how do you qualify for a spot on the GB Olympic team. What do you have to do, in what competitions and against what competition do you have to excel to get that spot?

a GB, or any other european, have 3 tournaments that they can qualify for the olympics in. a team GB have a bigger chance for qualifing since they compete as England, Wales ect in the euroes and since you compete as GB in the olympics you can in theory have 4*3chances for qualifing a boxer for the olympics.

So if you're a boxer, what tournaments can you use to qualify in and how far do you have to get to book your spot?

This year it there were 5 qualifying tournaments:
European championships in Pula, Croatia (all 11 division)
Tournaments in Baku, Göteborg, Plovid and poland. These 4 tournaments had 5/6 divisions each, so the boxers had 3 chanches (super heavyweights 2) to qualify for the olympics.
