didnt see the fight but Andre Ward beat world champ Makarenko 23:16

anyone see the fight????

To me it was a closer fight than the cards but I do think Ward edged him. But Ward held Makarenko for nearly the whole last round and the ref did nothing to stop it. Makarenko was not given a chance to overcome Ward's lead.

Possibly. But Ward didn't get the lead in the firest place by holding, and he deserves credit for a well-thought-out strategy and the skill/discipline to carry it out. Not allowing to opponent a chance to catch up (within the bounds of what is legal and allowed by the ref) is just being smart.

I just hope this kid doesn't succumb to the temptation to try to turn pro as a heavyweight, as some have suggested he may do. He's a natural 168/175-pounder, and both of those divisions would benefit from an infusion of new talent, as well.
