6 Irish fighters through to the EU finals, but Buncy....

Post by slapbangwhallop »

.....failed to even give them a mention! Plenty of time to list out all the English and Welsh finalist (skimming over the four British fighters beaten in the semis by Irish fighters including England only Yerpian champion, Luke Campbell)

Bit more balanced reporting please Buncey - its not the BBC yer on son!

Why don't you mention them here then? Instead of giving Buncey and his show a hard time.

Excuse my ignorance of the international amateur calendar, but is this a truly representative field of competition? Is this a weakened tournament for any reason?

I ask because having 10 English/Irish fighters taking up a potential 20 places available for the finals seems very lopsided in terms of representation (or are the Irish and English lads just THAT good?)

he also failed to mention john-joe nevin beat campbell 13-2

paddy barnes was forced to withdraw and i think he would have got gold aswel

considering we only had 9 men and 9 medals is not bad at all

maybe the irish and english lads are that good i think the competition is as good as it gets in the e.u

we will soon find out in sep when the worlds are on

Especially in the North. I'm in many of the clubs on a regular basis and there's an abundance of talent knocking around Belfast :TU:

BRITISH Boxing forum lads maybe thats why?

Seriously though, its a good achievement but the EU's are not the Europeans and certainly not the Worlds.

The Irish are currently enjoying their best crop ever it seems. :TU:

Terry you are right but also the Euro championships were weakened. The EU's are an annual competition and is the baby brother of the European championship.

Yeah I noticed that myself. Setanta has a big Irish audience and you would think he would be mindful of that.

Sorry to labour this point, but... originally you got it wrong in what point was being discussed, and now you are saying to move it - that's a pretty anti Irish sentiment, or you seem a bit of a tool.

Yiddo14 is a dick. This sort of underlying thing seems to be a bit of a reoccuring theme with him. I seem to recall some ill-thought out comments concerning John Duddy and his Derry origin. Whats your issue with the Irish mate??

You thought wrong then. The only people who call it Londonderry are Protestants. The majority of it's population know the place as Derry, as does most of Ireland.
