David Haye came within a whisker of stopping Solis when they fought in the 2001 World Championship final. Haye would have finished him if not for the standing count. He'd probably be too small for heavyweight, maybe cruiser if he was a pro.

I'm not so sure Haye would've won, we'll never know...

I see you are a very big fan of Haye, but at the same championships he get big gift in his 1/4-finals fight against Kober. Earlier he got another gift in the draw missing first round and geting into the light part of the draw, with Kober, decent Ukrainian and Sweden figher when at the other part were Solis, Russian Sultanahmed Ibrahimov (second in Sydney), Rustam Saidov (third in Sydney and 2004 Olympian), Jaroslav Jaksto (2004 Olympian) and Kubrat Pulev (EU champion).
Yeah, Haye has his moment in the first round against Solis, which indeed finished in favor of British, but in second Haye was almost killed:))) And i am sure you know what happends to Haye in third.

Not that big a fan, I can hardly remember those championships at all, I can remember the uppercut he landed that did have Solis in trouble, im more making a point about Haye's power than anything else.

Thomas was my original pick for gold at flyweight, but now he faces, who I consider one of the finest 3 or 4 boxers in the tournament, Yurokis Gamboa of Cuba. The Frenchman is the underdog in this one for me.

Wasn't Amir Khan sensational, this kid is a revelation. Such a shame that he has Kindelan to contend with, however, to be the best you gotta beat the best! Come on, Amir! :TU:

Has anyone noticed how biased the scoring is towards Kazakhs???

In Amir Khan's bout for example, every vaguely galncing shot from the Kazakh scored, yet some clean shots from Khan didn't.

Then Amir made it impossible to be robbed by bashing his opponent silly in the last round, but Khan was 2 points down after round 2, when I thought fairly he should have been 3 up...

I thought the stitch up was in....

Thomas lost to Gamboa...anyways it seems that judges had picked Gamboa to win , i couldnt even count how many clean punches were forgotten , and sometimes scored for gamboa...anyways i think Gamboa still diserved the win...just that the score was supposed to be much closer

I thought Gamboa won it comfortable, clearly the classier fighter.
