Paul Graham Referee - King v Rocco
Paul Graham Referee - King v Rocco
An Individual disguised as a referee by the name of Paul Graham was the referee and judge for Monday Nights fight in Glasgow between King and Rocco. The previous post explains the dis-satisfaction of his 'performance' that night and the way in which he ruined the atmosphere and spoiled the end of an otherwise very enjoyable evening. EVERYONE at the event had witnessed something completely underhand and wrong for whatever reason and this was discussed by many after the event. Has anyone else witnessed this person operate in such a manner as I cannot believe it was simply a one off? ![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

He gave max maxwell a draw at the same place a few months back that was a win
Re: Paul Graham Referee - King v Rocco
I've seen him ref a few times in Scotland and he seemed very capable, in good shape, and he has done a bit in the amateurs.
However, I also seem to recall Micky Vann labelling Scottish referees as biased (allegedly) in his autobiography.

Don't know a lot about the ref, but heard that Rocco was on the end of an shocking decision on Monday.
Bottom line is, English kids have been stuffed for years in Glasgow particularly on dinner shows so this one will hardly be a surprise.

Re: Paul Graham Referee - King v Rocco
Seems to me that if he works out at the same gym as King or is mates with him then he should have swapped this fight with the other ref and he could have took charge of one of the others.
Not seen the fight though so cant comment on the result.

If Paul Graham is who I think is, I'd go as far to say he's the best referee in Britain at the moment.

Or William Wallace......
Chris S - yeah shocking is an understatement.
We knew Rocco would have to smash him up by a mile to get a decision, and thats exactly what he did. First time Ive ever witnessed something as bad as that decision though. The ref for the two undercards was spot on, just seems a little suspect that they then change him for one fight and put a personal friend/gym mate of Kings as the ref - but then again look at how many times King has been on these shows, at the same venue and got close decisions. Dosnt take a genius to know what went on up there. King will know it himself, it just stinks that they can do that without any comeback.
Re: Paul Graham Referee - King v Rocco
My mistake, the referee I was thinking of is : Steve Gray. He put in another stellar performance last Friday handling Steve Williams' cracker against the Polish guy.
Re: Paul Graham Referee - King v Rocco
Did anyone notice Paul Graham applauding Alex Arthur in the ring when his roll of honour was being yelled out by the bloke from Grange Hill last night.

Small hall shows, especially dinner shows, without the intrusion of TV cameras have historically seen many stinking home town decisions.
The refs know which side their bread is buttered on, so to speak. Rocco is just the latest in a long, long line to get the shitty end of the stick.
Journey men who have been round the block usually just accept these home town decisions with a knowing shrug of resignation. It is wrong, undoubtedly, but it is nothing new I am afraid.

It shouldnt be allowed, and Rocco's no journeyman!
That cock Graham shouldnt be event allowed to work. It stinks and ruins the sport.

I wasnt suggesting that Rocco is a journeyman - I was merely pointing out that this sort of treatment to a visiting fighter on a dinner show is nothing new. Journeymen in particular are well used to this sort of treatment. No, it doesnt make it right and the more often that these outrages are highlighted the more chance there is of something being done to change it but no one who follows the sport should be suprised when it happens IMO.davidas wrote:It shouldnt be allowed, and Rocco's no journeyman!

He was banned for 3 months from working as a Referee, it was reported in the Edinburgh Evening News , done more than jump in the air . he actually hugged McNeill as he was leaving the ring .southpaw7 wrote:chris s wrote:Did anyone notice Paul Graham applauding Alex Arthur in the ring when his roll of honour was being yelled out by the bloke from Grange Hill last night.

This is the numpty that ref'd my fight with Lee Mcallister. I floored McAllister twice, neither of which were ruled knockdowns. Apparently he slipped over invisible banana skins. He also waited till the last round to deduct a point for holding when Lee had been holding me all night long. I also had him all over the place in the fifth and Graham looked like he was shatting himself.
The guy is at best the shoddiest referee in the country, at worst he's a bent as they come. He robbed my of my unbeaten record and the oppertunity to progress with my career. Wanker.
