I put this post in here because although slightly off topic, lots of brits are familiar with boxing betting.....
I had a few quid on Wlad to win in the tenth round and BBC boxing and Boxrec have the fight listed as a tenth round retired/stoppage for Wlad and ESPN got it 1 second stppage into the 10th round but looks like William Hill havent paid me out on that.
At the time I did consider it a 9th round stoppage so no real complaints but does anybody know the official round of stoppage and if billyhill should have paid me?

You should be paid out on the 10th round, although i agree to all intents and purposes it was over at the end of the 9th. However, from the fightnews website' The bout was stopped by Chagaev’s corner after the ninth round and was announced as a tenth round KO as the bell had rung to begin round ten before referee Eddie Cotton officially waved it off.' All bookmakers rules that i know of would settle on the previous round if a fighter did not answer the bell for the next round. It looks as if Chagaev did answer the bell and so a 10th round stoppage it should be. Hills have been a bit slack that's all and I don't blame them as i work in the betting industry and went to bed thinking it was a 9th round TKO

If a fighter doesn't answer the bell it will be paid out on a previous round stoppage.

Above is correct, its 100 per cent a 9th round stoppage, the man never moved off his stool and did not make it to the centre of the ring (thereby answering the bell for the next round)
Very unlucky on your part but there will be a time when it will work for you hopefully, swings and roundabouts etc

Ok thanks a lot. Like I said earlier, no real complaints as I did consider it a 9th rounder but BBC, Espn etc got me thinking.GLOBALBOX wrote:Hagler2002 wrote:If a fighter doesn't answer the bell it will be paid out on a previous round stoppage.

Because the 9th round had finished and he went back to his stool and didn't come out for the 10th,I would say that this should be a TKO Round 10.You should be paid out,but i'm not sure what rules the bookies use but to me and IMO you should be PAID!!!.

I will say that William Hills are the biggest bunch of pudenda in the betting game.
A mate of mine backed Barrera to beat Juarez in their first fight and the original result was a draw as some will remember. William Hills stated his bet had been lost, he went to bed etc and that was it until the morning, when he woke up to find that the scores had been re-counted and Barrera actually won. Did he get his money? Did he fvck!
I haven't bothered with them since.
Go on oddschecker before you lay your next bet and see where you can get the best price. 99 times out of a 100 it won't be with William Hills either

damn thats shocking he should have made an official complaint to head office and would have had a very good case.I had haye to get knocked down and get up to ko barrett at 14-1,that happened but te ref didnt issue an official count so i didnt get paid, bad luck thatyiddo14 wrote:I will say that William Hills are the biggest bunch of pudenda in the betting game.

Both very unlucky, well actually that Barrera one is just plain sick. Boxrec have now changed the result of Wlads fight from round 10 to 9 now. So many near misses... A mate of mine had £5 @ 50/1 that all three brits (Calzaghe, Haye & Hatton) would all stop their opponents when they all fought within the space of three weeks last November(ish). He was praying for the ref to stop Roy Jones Jnr on the cut he suffered, instead Calzaghe played out the final 4 rounds.caffrey wrote:damn thats shocking he should have made an official complaint to head office and would have had a very good case.I had haye to get knocked down and get up to ko barrett at 14-1,that happened but te ref didnt issue an official count so i didnt get paid, bad luck thatyiddo14 wrote:I will say that William Hills are the biggest bunch of pudenda in the betting game.
